Essential Questions:
1) What are isometric and orthographic drawings?
2) What are nets?
• You will study both two-dimensional and
three-dimensional figures in geometry.
• Isometric drawings show three sides of a
figure from a corner view.
Ex 1-Isometric Drawing
• An orthographic drawing is another way
to show a three-dimensional figure; it
shows a top, front, and right-side views.
Ex 2- Orthographic Drawing
• A foundation drawing shows
the base of a structure and
the height of each part.
• Look at the foundation
drawing of the Sears Tower in
the book.
Ex 3- Foundation Drawing
• A net is a two-dimensional pattern that
you can fold to form a three-dimensional
figure.
• A net shows all of the surfaces of a figure
in one view.
• Think of it as “unfolding” the figure.
