Access Reports by choosing that option from the Attendance menu, icon, or link. Select a Report by clicking on the name of the report.

Use the Select a Report Format option to view and/or print (Report Viewer); view, save, email, or print the report (PDF Format); or export the report data to Excel or as a Comma-Separated file to other programs.

Your Gradebook Structure

• • • • Your Structure is set by your Gradebook Manager.

It organizes grades by semester, marking period, and possibly categories.

You cannot change the values on any element you did not create.

Use the + to open each structure element or click the element to access details about it.

Copy Assignments Wizard

When you click the Copy Assignments Wizard, this screen displays. Click the checkboxes for as many tasks as you want to copy, then click Next.

Maintain Grades

Click in the cell f or the first student in the column for the assignment where you want to enter grades.

n Type a grade and pre ss ENTER to move dow to the next student. Any grade task that is affected by the added grade is color-coded as shown here.

Be sure to click Save before you open another class or move to another menu option if you have made any grade entries or changes.

‘Maintain Grades’ Highlights

• • • • Text grades can be used used or to identify incomplete, excused or unexcused grades. By default, leaving a grad e blank does not affect the average.

Auto Dropping of lowest grades is set up in the category definition.

Use a right click on the assignment for three action menus.

• You must click Save to preserve all entries and changes to grades. You will be warned if you try to exit without saving.

Color and Text Features

• • • • • • • • Failing grades can be highlighted.

The row for the student where a grade is being entered acquires a background color.

The background color is altered for changed grades until saved.

Overridden grades can be assigned a color.

When Comments are added, the grade becomes bolded.

Curved grades can be assigned a color.

Dropped grades are shown with a line through the grade.

Red outlining indicates a student absence on the due date for an assignment.

Assignment Right Click Options

• • When you right-click on an assignment header, these six options become available.

Each option except ‘Quick-Add’ Assignment pertains to the task on which you have right clicked.

Sorting

• • • Choose from Sort Ascending or Sort Descending. The students will be sorted according to their grades on the chosen assignment.

Right click on the Student Name or Seat No. heading and choose from Sort Ascending or Sort Descending to restore the list to your desired sort order.

Display Options

• • • Use Background and Text Color options primarily on categories and marking period grades.

Hide and Show Column let you decide which MP, exam, semester, and final grades you want visible by marking period.

Freeze a column to move it to the far left of the Gradebook screen and allow it to always be visible.

Move to Beginning/End

lets you push individual assignments to the far left or right as desired.

Color Coding Categories

• • Changing the text and/or background colors of a category allows all assignments for that category to acquire the same color combination (checkbox).

You can choose colors either from the Web Colors palette or the more extensive Named Colors list.

Mass Enter Grades

• • • Select Mass Enter Grades to produce the result shown.

Enter a Value and choose whether to

Curve/Remove Curve

• • • • • Choose Curve Operand to increase grades by adding a point factor (+) or multiplying by a point factor (*) such as 1.05.

Enter the Curve Points value.

Click Accept. Remove a curve by choosing the Remove Curve option.

Note that curved grades are color coded blue unless you change the default color.

Quick Add Assignment

• • • • Quick Add Assignment lets you enter a minimal information to create an assignment. Enter Short and Long Descriptions along with the Dates Assigned and Due. Click Accept. Use Maintain Assignments to copy to other classes or make changes to defaults.

Quick Add Assignment Admonitions

 When you choose the right-click on an assignment Quick Add option, be aware of the following:   The new assignment defaults to the category of the right-clicked assignment The default Date Due defaults to the Date Due of the assignment   If any assignment weight, minimum or maximum points, bonus points, or exclude from drop options out of the ordinary are found in the right clicked assignment, they will be picked up by the new assignment.

You may need to adjust the new assignment.

Grade Right-Click Options

• • When you right-click on a specific grade, you have three options that will affect only that grade.

The selected grade will have a darkened border as shown.

Override Grade/Remove Override

• • • • Choose Override Grade to either: • • Change a report card grade Change an assignment grade due to corrections Enter the Value and click

Accept.

The new grade will change to red or to a different color of your choosing. Choose Remove Override to restore the original grade.

Grade Comment

• • • • Use Grade Comments for noting unusual events surrounding a grade such as cheating.

While these comments do not print anywhere, keep comments factual.

Enter the Grade Comment and click Accept. Grades with a Comment will appear in bold text.

Right-Click a Student Name

Right-clicking on a single student name yields three options that pertain only to the selected student.

View Single Student/View All Students

To restore this data right-click any student name and select View All Students. This option is very useful for student or parent conferences in which your Gradebook data is used directly on the screen rather than in a report. You can also click on other student names to maintain View Single Student.

Mass Enter Grades

Mass Enter Grades is the perfect option when a student new to t he school enrolls in your class. Use this only for the current marking period if a student brings a to-date grade for your class from the previous school. If you have previously entered grades on assignments the studen t has completed for you prior to receiving and entering the to-date grade, uncheck the Overwrite existing grades checkbox.

Copy Grades from Another Class

• • • • • Use this option to copy previous report card grades from another class/section when a student has a schedule change to your class.

Select the sending class from the Class dropdown menu.

Check only grades that have already appeared on a report card. Note that you cannot select the current marking period.

Use the Mass Enter Grades by Student option to capture the current marking period grade.

Click Copy Grades. A single grade override on for each task checked is written to your Gradebook.

Hover your mouse on a task name to display a summary of the task description, values, and class average if grades are present.

Assigning Seat Numbers

• • • Click a cell in the Seat column and enter a seat number for the selected student.

Use 2 - 3 character codes to sort correctly, such as A1, A2…B1,B2…or 101,102… 201,202… etc.

Click Save and then right click on the Seat column heading and choose Sort Ascending or Descending. EDP Enterprises, Inc.

Reset Column Order Options

By using the Reset Column Order by options dropdown, you can quickly arrange your Gradebook assignments. You can choose from Date Ascending, Date Descending, Group Categories by Date Ascending, or Group Categories by Date Descending. Make a selection and then click the Reset button to create the change. Be sure to click Save before leaving the screen to keep your chang es.

Moving an Individual Task

   To move a single task, click the header and drag the header to the left or right and slightly below or above the header row.

The red arrows will point to the new location for the task when you release the mouse button.

Click Save to preserve your changes.

• • Choose one of your classes from the Class dropdown menu. Review the grades and then click Submit. Repeat until all classes have been submitted. Students whose names are light gray are inactive, but you can submit their grades by checking the Submit checkboxes for those students.

Keep your grading scheme simple and easy to understand; there is NO value in complexity in calculating grades.

Record grades as soon as possible in your Gradebook; others may be watching, and it’s the right thing to do.

When submitting report card grades, every active student must have an alpha or numeric grade; no blanks allowed!

Parameters – Assign TEKS

Use this screen to identify the TEKS assigned to your subject area and grade level. This will facilitate associating each lesson plan with the TEKS it is addressing.

Step 1: Lesson Options

Step 2: Lesson Details

• • Give your lesson a Lesson Name that will quickly identify it’s place in your curriculum.

Step 3: Assign Classes

• • • Select the class(es) to which the lesson plan will apply.

Select a date for the lesson plan using the calendar icon or clicking the Lesson Date field and manually entering the date. If the lesson plan dates, repeat the previous step for each date.

Step 4: Activities

• • Click the + to add activities to your lesson plan. The Type options are defined by your Gradebook Manager and can be expanded as needs arise.

Description lets you provide details for the Activity Type you have selected. Number each entry to keep them in order when printed.

Step 5: Materials

• • • Add specific materials needed for the lesson as noted previously.

If no materials are to be used, click Next without making any entries.

You can also click Finish at any point in the Add Lesson Plan process and complete it at a later time.

Step 6: Evaluations

• • • Click the + to add an evaluation for the lesson. Select an evaluation Type from the list defined by your Gradebook Manager.

Provide a brief description of the evaluation in the Description window.

Step 7: Modifications

If any elements of the lesson plan will involve modifications for resource, LEP, or other students, indicate the area of the lesson that will be modified and the nature of the modification.

Step 8: State Requirements (TEKS)

• • Use the dropdown list to locate and check as many TEKS as are being addressed in the lesson as you need.

If you need the full definition of a TEKS element, click on the underlined description.

Step 9: Attachments

• • • An Attachment is typically a document, presentation, spreadsheet, or download from the Internet that you will be using in your lesson.

Though its primary use is to make the attachment available to a substitute or administrator as needed, it could also be used in districts where VSI has been enabled so that a parent could download the attachment for an ill student.

Note: Don’t put testing documents here!
