An Alarming Trend:



We are in danger of raising the first
generation of American children who will
live sicker and die younger than their
parent’s generation.
Childhood obesity is one of the most
urgent and serious health threats
confronting our nation.
Robert Wood Johnson Foundation - 2007
Why?
If schools do not deal
with children’s health
by design, they deal
with it by default.

Some Thoughts about Bullying

Surveys show that as many as one-half of
all children are bullied at some time during
their school years, and at least 10% are
bullied on a regular basis.

Bullying is intentional, repeated, and
meant to humiliate and cause harm.
More Thoughts….

Being bullied causes:
 Low self esteem
 Sadness and depression
 Skipping school and bad grades
 Headaches, stomach aches and
trouble sleeping
 Thoughts and acts of suicide

As Administrators, YOU have the
opportunity to be a HERO for students
Focus on getting the anti-bullying message
to parents anyway that you can
Remember that hurt people, hurt people
In your advocacy – don’t just focus on the
victim – focus also on the victimizer
More Thoughts…

Cyber-bullying is a bigger problem with
middle school girls.
Sexting is AGAINST THE LAW – don’t
take it lightly
