Quote from Literary Criticism
“Poe's productions show that he could see through the verse to
the spirit beneath, and that he already had a feeling that all the
life and grace of the one must depend on and be modulated by
the will of the other.”

I like Edgar Allan Poe’s writing because
it is usually puts out good questions, and
shows a good amount of light and dark
topics. It make it easy to relate with his
writing. Also his writing style is a lot like
my own, which make it really easy to
understand and get into the depths of his
writing. I’ve always loved how Poe
seemed to write, what others writers in
his time would never think of writing, It
made me develop respect for him.
I’m going to Mimic the Poem: Alone
Together
From Childhood’s hour I have been alone
When others weren’t; the feeling I was not prone
When others had already felt; I could not sing
From the depth of my soul I could not bring
My Passion; I couldn’t find
My body seemed to not have the time.
And all I loved, I loved him.
Then--in my life, the dawn
After the stormy night--him of who I was fond
From the depths of his eye of love and lust
The mystery of our futures glimpse in dust
From his strong facial expressions,
That wiped away my depression,
The sun that warm our naked bodies
People around us telling us it is naughty
The storms hitting the earth like darts
But it doesn’t compare to the storms in our hearts
From the people that are not kind
And the doubts they want in our minds
(When everything about you is bright)
Even when this day is night.
I wrote a poem to the opposite theme that Poe used in
Alone. Also where Poe wrote about one persons feelings.
I did use the same format and rhyme scheme (aabb ccdd
eeff). Also I wrote from the same point of view as Poe did.
I believe it shows the same amount of light and dark in one
person life. But my poem include the feelings of another
person intertwined.
