"I think that Co-op is a great program that
focuses on the needs of the student rather than
on the program in a book. I found that it was a
great learning experience and it was certainly
very rewarding. Every student should have the
opportunity to experience Co-op. It helps to
direct you towards a goal in life."
Rania Ywakim
“The Co-op education program is a valuable opportunity
for high school students to gain experience and insight
into possible careers. We think the students and their
placements all benefit.”
Ms. Rosemary Murphy

opportunity for high school students to gain experience
and insight into possible careers. We think the students
and their placements all benefit.”
Ms. Sarah Walsh
“The Co-op program is a great initiative. The students
have been a pleasure to work with and the work terms
have been mutually beneficial. It has been a positive
experience for all involved and I would highly
recommend students from the Co-op program to any of
my colleagues.”

"I'm glad I chose this course. I didn't have any
idea on how fun it would be and the
experiences I would have. The Co-op program
is great for high schoolers who have no idea in
what career they want or for the ones who
know what they want to taste what's in store for
them in the future. I love the Co-op program
and recommend it to any unsure level III."
Tammie Doyle / McCrindle
“I think this is the best thing I have ever done
in school, I apply myself to task and see results
right away, I also feel like I am a part of
something....”
Paul Bursey
“The co-operative program that has been offered
to the students is educational , interesting, but
most of all a lot fun.”
Sarah Fourn
“We have been involved with Co-op Education for a
number of years and we have always found the
program to be very beneficial to the Centre as well as to
the students. It is a learning tool that provides
opportunity for the students and helps provide
interaction for our children.”

“The Co-Op program is extremely well-organized and
well-run, and has consistently provided me with
intelligent, mature and hard-working students who are
also extremely nice individuals, this semester follows this
fine tradition.”
Dr. Ted Miller
"I think it's a wonderful learning experience for
students and an asset for the employer.”
Ms. Nancy Taylor
“Co-operative education is a dynamic, innovative and
challenging program. I think all students should take
co-operative education. It bridges the school and the
workplace.”
Dr. Mildred Cahill
“I think the Co-op program is great. It is a benefit to the
student as well as the employer. I would recommend it to
everyone.”
Ms. Sandra Clarke
“The Co-op program is not a bad program. It’s nice to
see teenagers taking an interest in their future career.
It’s a nice idea for them to be familiarized with the
duties that are required for them in the future. It’s nice
to see that they’re not going out into the work force
with a blind eye.”

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my co-op
placement thus far at the Computer Services
Department of the Marine Institute. It has been
a wonderful hands on experience, teaching me
things I never imagined it would. The co-op
program is an excellent idea, and I hope it is
carried on throughout the years for future
students to enjoy and learn from as I have.”
Brad Martin
“Co-op has been a valuable experience, I’ve
learned a lot about the job that I am interested
in, not to mention many important work skills.”
Jennifer Halleran
“I think co-op is an excellent opportunity to gain
hands on experience in a career of which you are
interested.”
Mary St. John
"This is an excellent opportunity for a young student
considering a profession to receive hands on experience
which will help them decide if this is the profession
they wish to pursue. The students also offer much
valuable extra help so badly needed in working with
challenged students."

“The Career Pathways Co-op Education Program gives
students the opportunity to experience all aspects of the
work environment. Just from my short time working at
CBC Radio, it has given me an open mind, and
introduced me to all aspects of the music industry. I
have been able to increase my knowledge, not only
from the music / recording side, but the other jobs
needed to accompany it.”
Aimee Richard
“I personally think that it is an excellent program to
offer to students at that grade level. This is because it
gives them a chance to get out into the work force
before actually making the decision of going to postsecondary institutes, and ending up not liking what
they’re doing. This course should be continually
offered to students at this level of they’re education.
Keep it up!”
Mr. Clyde Burden
“The program is really working out, having another
hand around to lighten the work load is really
beneficial to the department.”
Mr. Kevin Gushue
“The Co-Operative education program is, in my own
opinion, a great program for students of today. The program
offers the student a hands-on experience in the workplace.
This provides the best possible learning experience for the
young, inexperienced, workforce for the future.”

“Co-op has allowed me to get a glimpse at my
future and the possible places that I can go. I
like what I see. To anyone out there that is
contemplating doing co-op I think that it is a
great idea. You get the chance to see the kind of
occupations that are out there for you and you
also get to see what kind of work it takes to get
there.”
Lisa Abbott
“I think that Co-op is a great program. It breaks
up the monotony of school, and gives you skills
you can apply in real life. From my personal
experience, I can honestly say the program is
great, and I would highly recommend it to
anyone who could handle it.”
Jonathan Crotty
“Co-op allowed me to see and experience first hand
the world of an archaeologist. This experience has not
only helped me career wise but has allowed me to
expand my network of contacts for the future.”
Renee Kavanagh
“I think it was a wonderful opportunity for me to see what
may be my future occupation first-hand should I wish to
pursue this field. It was really great having a chance to
have this learning experience while still in high school.”

“I believe that the Co-op program is a
wonderful way for students like myself to find
out what they want to do in the near future. It
doesn’t really matter if I decide to become a
teacher or not. I have gained a lot of knowledge
about myself and have learned a great deal for
the future from my Co-op experience. ”
Angela Farrell
“In general a great idea. A lot depends, however, on the
level of interest an individual has in their placement. If
the student is being placed in a profession that they
want to pursue, they tend to be enthusiastic about
learning and give their all. The only difficulty I see
depends upon the maturity of the student, since in our
field they have to deal with the public and less outgoing students tend to have some difficulty with this
aspect.”
Ms. Denise Ferry
"This co-operative effort between the business
community/work environment and schools exposes the
students to invaluable work experience that gives them
a head start in the work world. It is an opportunity for a
student to put theory into practice and gain invaluable
insight into work skills and interpersonal relations with
co-workers. Finally, it helps students decide what they
can do best and choose a career."

"I think that co-operative education is a great
idea. It helps students think about their future
careers and gives them an opportunity to see if
they would enjoy a certain profession. I feel that
my child had a great opportunity and has learned
a lot from her experiences."
Magda Ywakim
“This is an excellent opportunity, you never know you
might even get a summer job out of this....”
Brian & sylvia Bursey
“It gives her the knowledge to chose a good career and also
gives her the appropriate experience for a future job”.
Melissa Halleran
“My placement confirmed my career interests. I
consider myself priviledged to have had such a
diversified co-op experience working with various
professionals in occupational therapy, recreational
therapy, and Prosthetics and Orthotics.”

“I think the Co-Op is an excellent program for students.
It gives them a chance to get
some idea of what career to choose after they graduate
high school. It also gives the student experience in the
workplace, and in the type of work they want to do. It
also gives them an opportunity to decide whether or not
they will like the career path that they have chosen. I
am very pleased that my daughter is able to have such
an opportunity.”
Ann Marie Farrell
“I found my placement at St.Bon’s very helpful in
making a decision about what I want to do with my life.
Co-op benefits the student and the community too.”
Liam Jardin
“Leanne has a natural flair for journalism. As a result of her
placement with us she now has several published articles.
We would like to hire her for a summer job if we can
identify funding”
Gail Ryan
“I believe that the Co-op program is an excellent idea
for the Grade 12 students. It’s a wonderful opportunity
for the students to have “hands on” experience in a
career they may like to pursue. At the same time, the
program gives the student a chance to view the
“working world” up close and interact with various
people. I feel it provides the necessary confidence and
responsibility in life that far surpasses the classroom
environment.”
