STORING FRESH FRUITS
Under ripe Fruits
Allow to stand at room temperature to ripen. If desired, speed
Ripening by putting fruit in a brown paper bag
Citrus Fruits
Can store at room temperature. Refrigerate for longer storage.
Berries, Cherries, grapes
Sort to remove damaged and decayed. Refrigerate in crisper in a plastic
bag or in a covered shallow container. Use as soon as possible.
Wash just before serving.
BANANAS
-Can be refrigerated after they ripen.
-The skin turns dark but the bananas
keep their eating quality.
MELONS, PINEAPPLE
-Refrigerate. Wrap in plastic or foil to keep aroma
from flavoring other foods.
CUT FRUITS
-Refrigerate in airtight container or wrapped in foil or plastic.
-To keep from turning brown, sprinkle with lemon juice or ascorbic acid before
storing
All other fruits
-Wash before storing.
-Dry well
-Refrigerate in crispier or loosely wrapped
