something belonging to one as a
controlling of the lands.

U.S. takes possession of Alaska from
Russia. Russian-American company had
financial troubles so they sell Alaska to
the Americans for $7.2 millions.
In December, after Spanish- American
War over, the Treaty of Paris was signed,
ending the Spanish-American War and
officially approving the cession of Puerto
Rico to the U.S.
Guam was under control by Spanish
since 1668. Guam became territory of the
U.S. as part of terms of the treaty of Paris
that ended the Spanish-American War. It
is also related to Puerto Rice, too.
Midway Atolls is the member of
Hawaiian which means it’s chain of
Hawaii. The first visited there was the
Americans and became a U.S.
possession.
