CODE?
Find a safe
place to cross
Stand on the
pavement near the
kerb. Do not get too
close to the traffic
Keep looking and
listening for traffic
as you cross
Look all around for
traffic and listen
If traffic is coming, let it
pass. Do not cross until
there is a safe gap in the
traffic and you are certain
that there is plenty of time

there have been 78
children under the age of
16 killed or seriously
injured from road traffic
collisions.
There were 24,580 people
killed or seriously injured
in NI in 2014, a 4%
increase compared with
2013.
There were 193,290
reported road casualties of
all severities, 4% higher
than 2013.
For every 1km/h
reduction in average
speed, there is a 2%
reduction in the number
of crashes

Be Seen! - Wear bright or reflective clothing
•Always look both ways before crossing the road
•Never use phones when crossing the road
•Never run in front of a vehicle
•Always use safe crossing places (green cross code!)
•Remember that even if you don’t get injured you can still
cause serious accidents!
