The Green Corn Festival lasts 4 days. During the festival, all children
born in the winter are given names. There would also be a Thanksgiving
speech. You would feast on corn soup and succotash, which is made of
corn, beans, and squash. On the last day of the festival, everyone would
play the peach stone game. The peach stone game was a game of chance.
You would put 6 peach stones blackened on 1 side in a bowl and toss
them. You would get points every time more than 4 turned up the same
color. The winner would receive peach stones for every point.
Equality and sharing are 2 of the most important values in the Iroquois
society. They also believed the Great Spirit made the world and that all
natural things were under the care of spirits.

The meat of several varieties of woodland animals waterfowl was
eaten by Iroquois. The men hunted and fished. The Iroquois ate buffalo and
deer. Gave prayers of thanks even If they slay deer for food.
The Iroquois grew corn ,beans and squash called The Three
Sisters. They also grew sunflowers, gourds and pumpkins.
The men cleared the fields so the women could plant the crops.
They cleared the land by using tools made from animal bones.
The women planted and picked the crops when needed. The
children helped cut wood for the fire, went fishing, made pottery ,clothing ,
and cooked. Also they helped pick the crops.
