ICEL LUKE 24:1-8 (NIV) 5 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7 ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” 8 Then they remembered his words. The effects of sin: Paradise lost…no access to the “tree of life” death to men…(Genesis 2) 1 Corinthians 15:26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death. Romans 6:9 9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. Revelation 2:7 ...I will give the right to eat from the tree of life…,in the paradise of God. ICEL We will live with Him! Galatians 2:20 20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. 2 Timothy 2:11 11 Here is a trustworthy saying: If we died with him we will also live with him; Romans 6:8 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. ICEL We have seen the Lord! John 20:18 18 Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her. John 20:25 25 So the other disciples told him, (Thomas) “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” ICEL Saul the persecutor, Paul the convert Acts 9 3 As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. 4 He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” 5 “Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied. 1 Corinthians 15:8 8 and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born. ICEL According to the scriptures 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures Luke 24: 27 (on the road to Emmaus) And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself. ICEL On the third day The Nicene Creed: 325 AD. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven John 2:19 19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.” ICEL I want to know Christ. Philippians 3:10-11 10 I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. ICEL 378 LOW IN THE GRAVE HE LAY Robert Lowry LOW IN THE GRAVE HE LAY, Jesus, my Saviour, Waiting the coming day, Jesus, my Lord: ICEL Up from the grave He arose, With a mighty triumph o’er His foes; He arose a Victor from the dark domain, And He lives for ever with His saints to reign: He arose! He arose! Alleluia! Christ arose! ICEL Vainly they watch His bed, Jesus, my Saviour; Vainly they seal the dead, Jesus, my Lord: ICEL Up from the grave He arose, With a mighty triumph o’er His foes; He arose a Victor from the dark domain, And He lives for ever with His saints to reign: He arose! He arose! Alleluia! Christ arose! ICEL Death cannot keep his prey, Jesus, my Saviour; He tore the bars away, Jesus, my Lord: ICEL Up from the grave He arose, With a mighty triumph o’er His foes; He arose a Victor from the dark domain, And He lives for ever with His saints to reign: He arose! He arose! Alleluia! Christ arose!
