285 JESUS CHRIST IS RISEN TODAY
Lyra Davidica
JESUS CHRIST IS RISEN TODAY;
Hallelujah!
Our triumphant holy day;
Hallelujah!
Who did once upon the cross;
Hallelujah!
Suffer to redeem our loss;
Hallelujah!
ICEL
Hymns of praise then let us sing;
Hallelujah!
Unto Christ our heavenly King;
Hallelujah!
Who endured the cross and grave;
Hallelujah!
Sinners to redeem and save:
Hallelujah!
ICEL
But the pains which He endured;
Hallelujah!
Our salvation have procured;
Hallelujah!
Now in heaven above He’s King;
Hallelujah!
Where the angels ever sing:
Hallelujah!

LUKE 24:1-8 (NIV)
1 On
the first day of the week, very early in the
morning, the women took the spices they had
prepared and went to the tomb.
2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb,
3 but when they entered, they did not find the body
of the Lord Jesus.
4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly
two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning
stood beside them.
ICEL
LUKE 24:1-8 (NIV)
5 In
their fright the women bowed down with their
faces to the ground, but the men said to them,
“Why do you look for the living among the dead?
6 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he
told you, while he was still with you in Galilee:
7 ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the
hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third
day be raised again.’ ”
8 Then they remembered his words.

225 I LIVE
Rich Cook
I LIVE, I live because He is risen,
I live, I live with power over sin;
I live, I live because He is risen,
I live, I live to worship Him.
Thank You Jesus, thank You Jesus,
Because You’re alive, because You’re alive,
Because You’re alive I live.

322 LED LIKE A LAMB
Graham Kendrick
LED LIKE A LAMB to the slaughter
In silence and shame,
There on Your back You carried a world
Of violence and pain.
Bleeding, dying, bleeding, dying.
ICEL
You’re alive, You’re alive,
You have risen, Alleluia!
And the power and the glory is given,
Alleluia, Jesus, to You.
ICEL
At break of dawn, poor Mary,
Still weeping she came,
When through her grief she heard Your voice
Now speaking her name.
Mary, Master, Mary, Master!
ICEL
You’re alive, You’re alive,
You have risen, Alleluia!
And the power and the glory is given,
Alleluia, Jesus, to You.
ICEL
At the right hand of the Father
Now seated on high
You have begun Your eternal reign
Of justice and joy.
Glory, glory, glory, glory.
ICEL
You’re alive, You’re alive,
You have risen, Alleluia!
And the power and the glory is given,
Alleluia, Jesus, to You.

He is truly risen!
The effects of sin: Paradise lost…no access to the “tree of
life” death to men…(Genesis 2)
1 Corinthians 15:26
The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
Romans 6:9
9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the
dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery
over him.
Revelation 2:7 ...I will give the right to eat from the tree of
life…,in the paradise of God.
ICEL
We will live with Him!
Galatians 2:20
20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but
Christ lives in me.
2 Timothy 2:11
11 Here is a trustworthy saying: If we died with him we will
also live with him;
Romans 6:8
8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live
with him.
ICEL
We have seen the Lord!
John 20:18
18 Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I
have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said
these things to her.
John 20:25
25 So the other disciples told him, (Thomas)
“We have seen the Lord!”
But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his
hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put
my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

Saul the persecutor, Paul the convert
Acts 9
3 As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light
from heaven flashed around him. 4 He fell to the ground
and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you
persecute me?”
5 “Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you
are persecuting,” he replied.
1 Corinthians 15:8
8 and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one
abnormally born.
ICEL
According to the scriptures
1 Corinthians 15:3-4
3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first
importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the
Scriptures,
4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third
day according to the Scriptures
Luke 24: 27 (on the road to Emmaus)
And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he
explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures
concerning himself.
ICEL
On the third day
The Nicene Creed: 325 AD.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
John 2:19
19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will
raise it again in three days.”
ICEL
I want to know Christ.
Philippians 3:10-11
10 I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his
resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming
like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, attaining to the
resurrection from the dead.

378 LOW IN THE GRAVE HE LAY
Robert Lowry
LOW IN THE GRAVE HE LAY,
Jesus, my Saviour,
Waiting the coming day,
Jesus, my Lord:
ICEL
Up from the grave He arose,
With a mighty triumph o’er His foes;
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives for ever with His saints to reign:
He arose! He arose!
Alleluia! Christ arose!
ICEL
Vainly they watch His bed,
Jesus, my Saviour;
Vainly they seal the dead,
Jesus, my Lord:
ICEL
Up from the grave He arose,
With a mighty triumph o’er His foes;
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives for ever with His saints to reign:
He arose! He arose!
Alleluia! Christ arose!
ICEL
Death cannot keep his prey,
Jesus, my Saviour;
He tore the bars away,
Jesus, my Lord:
ICEL
Up from the grave He arose,
With a mighty triumph o’er His foes;
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives for ever with His saints to reign:
He arose! He arose!
Alleluia! Christ arose!

551 THINE BE THE GLORY
Edmond Louis Budry Tr R Birch Hoyle
THINE BE THE GLORY,
Risen, conquering Son;
Endless is the victory
Thou o’er death hast won.
Angels in bright raiment
Rolled the stone away,
Kept the folded grave-clothes
Where Thy body lay.
ICEL
Thine be the glory,
Risen, conquering Son;
Endless is the victory
Thou o’er death hast won!
ICEL
Lo, Jesus meets us,
Risen from the tomb!
Lovingly He greets us,
Scatters fear and gloom.
Let the church with gladness
Hymns of triumph sing,
For her Lord now liveth,
Death hath lost its sting.
ICEL
Thine be the glory,
Risen, conquering Son;
Endless is the victory
Thou o’er death hast won!
ICEL
No more we doubt Thee,
Glorious Prince of life;
Life is naught without Thee:
Aid us in our strife;
Make us more than conquerors,
Through Thy deathless love;
Lead us in Thy triumph
To Thy home above.
ICEL
Thine be the glory,
Risen, conquering Son;
Endless is the victory
Thou o’er death hast won!
ICEL
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the love of God
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
be with us now and forever more.
Amen.
