Lewisham’s Olympic Programme
Our Aim is to inspire and encourage local people to
participate in and enjoy the Games
Lewisham is:

London 2012 Games-led Events & Programmes
Torch Relay
• Monday 23rd July: Lewisham hosts the starting leg of Day 66 at
7.30am
• Lewisham will host the relay for at least 90 minutes
• Opportunity for our communities to take part in a major 2012
Games event
London 2012 Games-led Events & Programmes
Get Set Programme
•
Provides access to free resources to support young people to
engage with the Games in their schools.
•
125,000 tickets are available to London Schools so 1 in 8 London
pupils between 10 and 18 will receive a free ticket for the Games.
•
All Lewisham schools have signed up to the scheme.
School Games Programme
• Lewisham Schools are competing in 22 out of 24 sports at the
London Youth Games
London 2012 Games-led Events & Programmes
Look and Feel:
• Generic 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games look for London
• Lewisham will be dressing a large number of venues throughout the Borough
• Funding for Look and Feel dressing provided by Greater London Authority,
community based partners and leisure contractors
Last Mile
• Measures to ensure safe passage of spectators to and from Greenwich Park
• Use of the Heath: car parking, coaches, Talbot Place and A2 pedestrian
bridge
• Hosting The Lewisham Big Screen: 27 July to 12 August 2012
