Study Skills 101
To do well in school, it is
important to know how to
study.
• More than anything
else, your organization
and study skills
determine the type of
grades you will get.
What is the best way to study
in school?
• How should you study before class?
• How should you study during class?
• How should you study after class?
Studying In School
• Use your class time wisely.
• Talking to your friends may
seem like a good idea at the
time, but it means you will have
more work to do later.
• If you have some free time
before your class ends, get a
jump start on your homework.
If your homework is all done,
use that time to review your
notes.
• If you have questions or need
help, make sure you talk with
your teacher before you leave
class/school.

Studying At Home
• Set a consistent time and
place to study.
• Make sure your study
environment is free from
distractions.
• You cannot study with
your phone, iPod, TV
remote, or video game
controller in your hand.
• Prioritize your study time.
• Start with the most
important or most difficult
tasks first.
Additional Study Skill Tips
• Study a little every day.
• Reviewing your notes daily will
help you do much better on
quizzes and tests.
• Break large projects into smaller
pieces.
• Start small and build on that.
• Find a study buddy or study
group that you can work with to
prepare for tests and quizzes.
• You can meet with your partner
or group during homebase.
