Reading Library Books
on your E-reader
Library E-books:
extends the functionality of the e-reader beyond mere purchase.
Takes a little bit of set-up time, but once you’ve done that, continuing
on is easy!
Be sure to ask your librarians for help. That’s why we are here.
Sign into your Amazon account:
Go to library web site:
Go to download site:
Click here to access e-books and audio collection.
Log into OCLN account:
Login to OCLN account:
Start in the library catalog and login in with your library card and
PIN number.
Open an advanced search:
In library media catalog:
Open the advanced search window to limit search by format, subject, etc.
Search in the catalog:
Here’s what you’ll see:
Note that because you logged in as a Duxbury patron, you are
seeing additional books that we have purchase especially for our
patrons.
Steps to download:
Kindle or Adobe:
You go right into Amazon
Select your download device: Kindle or computer with app:
Amazon acknowledgment:
Kindle library loan page:
Book is downloaded:
Sync your Kindle Fire:
When you download directly
to the Kindle, you may need
to turn your device off and on
again, then “sync” the book
onto the device to get the full
copy and not just the title.
Read your library book
Once sync-ed, your book appears on
your Kindle “bookshelf” and you can
adjust font size, make notes, change the
background color for easy reading, and
place bookmarks.
Loan period is 2 weeks and book will
disappear from device at the end of that
time automatically.
There are no renewals.
The Ipad:
From your App Store, download the
Kindle or Overdrive Media Console
app. to your device.
This is a one-time step.
You must have an Amazon account to
download Kindle format books and an
Adobe account to download EPUB
books, but if you don’t, you are
prompted through the registration
process..
The Nook:
Click on “My Help” on the Digital Media .
Nook procedure:
Library book downloads to a computer
then transferred to the Nook.
Be sure Nook is NOT attached to computer until after
the book is downloaded. THEN you can connect the
Nook and transfer it.

Placing a hold on an item usually results in an quick response as there
are no extensions of borrowing time an e-books become available as
soon at the time limit of the previous patron is reached.
