transition assistance to all service
members
• May include all phases of disability
claims processing from receipt of
claim through examination and the
rating process

Servicemember must:
Have 60-180 days
remaining in service
–Submit a copy of service
treatment records (STRs) or
health treatment records
–Be available at point of
separation to undergo

QUICK START CLAIMS
The Quick Start program
serves Service members who
do not qualify for BDD
because they:
Have less than 60 days before
separation/retirement
Are not available for VA
examinations at the point of

Submit VA Form 21-526c, PreDischarge Compensation Claim,
or other applicable forms
Provide original or copy of STRs
Provide known date of
separation or retirement
Submit a permanent address,
phone number, and email
