The South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA) is one of the
country’s leading accountancy institute representing suitably qualified Professional
Accountants (SA) in:

Full member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), governed by
a Code of Conduct, and the Constitution & By-Laws.
Comprehensive Investigations and Disciplinary structures and procedures
comply with IFAC requirements
Over 7 000 Full Members in public practice, with the majority offering
accountancy and allied services, and others in commerce and industry, public
sector and academia.
More than 2 000 Associate members, including Trainee Accountants, Students,
Accounting Technicians etc.

Qualifications are nationally recognized at Level 8 by NQF and SAQA

Professional Training by way of Accredited Training Centres (ATC)

Mandatory requirements with CPD & Professional Indemnity (PI) Insurance
Serve on the stakeholder forums of the South African Revenue Service (SARS)
and the Company Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC)
Regularly requested to make submissions to the Parliamentary Portfolio
Committees for Finance and Trade and Industry on accountancy related issues,
e.g. the Corporate Law Review, Companies Act
Regularly requested to make submissions on draft legislation affecting the
accountancy profession

A Bachelor’s Degree from a SAIPA accredited tertiary institute

Three years’ supervised training at an ATC
OR

Completed training programme administered by other accredited professional
accountancy bodies

Six years of relevant experience in accordance with the Institute’s official training
