Among non-IDU heterosexual STI patients, prevalence remains <2%
in Germany, the Netherlands, Spain (6 cities) and the UK and <3.5%
in Switzerland, but has increased to around 7% in Italy (2002)
l
Levels are much higher (up to 50%) in some groups of homo/bisexual
STI patients

In the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Slovenia, prevalence is <1% in
most years and shows no trend over time

Overall prevalence levels are <2% but have increased sharply in
recent years in Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia and the Russian Federation
and may be much higher in some cities and regions
Data are rarely available by population subgroup (eg IDU, HBM)
