OBJECTIVES
1. To help the students identify their potential/strengths.
2. To make the students aware of the career avenues
available in different disciplines
3. To facilitate the students identify the skills required
for a particular career option
4. To facilitate the students hone some basic, specific
and fundamental skills
5. To devise short term modular courses for improving
basic and specific skills

Initiatives
• As a pilot project the Skill development in Retail sector
under the STAR scheme of National Skill Development
Corporation (NSDC), G.O.I was started for 50 students
in 30 Govt. colleges of excellence in 2013-14.
• The evaluation fee of @Rs.1000 was borne by the State
government
• A 30 days training was conducted at each of these 30
college for the final year students from B.A, B.Sc. and
B. Com under the supervision of two approved vendors
of Retailers Association’s Council of India (RASCI ).

*For the enrolled students under Skill
development in Retail sector a Placement fair
was organized on 2nd July, 2014 at GCG, Sec14, Panchkula. A total of 318 students were
short listed for various jobs by 30
companies/ brands of repute.
ROAD MAP
• For the year 2014-15 it is proposed to initiate
the Skill development process in Retail,
Banking and IT sector.
• The scheme will be initiated in 50 Govt.
colleges of the state.
• An average of 100 students from each Govt.
college will be selected for skill development
under various sectors of Skill development.
ROAD MAP
• The cost per candidate will be borne by the
state government.
• The conclusion of the scheme will be done by
organizing Placement fairs in Govt. colleges at
Panchkula,
Karnal,
Gurgaon
and
Mohindergarh by the department for the
enrolled students under various sectors of skill
development.
