Healing IS in the Atonement
 Isa 53:4-5 –
Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet
we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But
he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for
our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought
us peace, and with his stripes we are healed.
 1 Pet 2:24 –
 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we
might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you
have been healed.
 Psalm 103 –
 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits,
who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases

The Testimony of Jesus’ Ministry
 Matt 4:23-24  And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their
synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom
and healing every disease and every affliction among
the people. So his fame spread throughout all Syria,
and they brought him all the sick, those afflicted with
various diseases and pains, those oppressed by
demons, epileptics, and paralytics, and he healed
them.
 Acts 10:38 –
 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy
Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and
healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God
was with him.
The 12 and 72…
 Matt 10:1 –

And he called to him his twelve disciples and
gave them authority over unclean spirits, to
cast them out, and to heal every disease and
every affliction.
 Luke 10:9 –

Whenever you enter a town and they receive
you, eat what is set before you. Heal the sick
in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has
come near to you.’
2. The Father’s Will IS to Heal

Jesus only did and said what he saw and heard the
Father doing and saying. - John 5:19-13 & John
8:28 

Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of
his own accord, but only what he sees the Father
doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son
does likewise. For the Father loves the Son and
shows him all that he himself is doing. And greater
works than these will he show him, so that you may
marvel.
So Jesus said to them, “When you have lifted up the
Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and
that I do nothing on my own authority, but speak just
as the Father taught me.
2. The Father’s Will IS to Heal

The Father IS willing to heal


A man with leprosy came and knelt before
him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you
can make me clean.” Jesus reached out his
hand and touched the man. “I am willing,”
he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was
cured of his leprosy. – Matt 8:2-3
Everyone who every came to Jesus was
healed – even when it was “inconvenient”.
Jesus healed them all
 Jesus healed ALL who came to him
 And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their
synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom
and healing every disease and every affliction among
the people. So his fame spread throughout all Syria,
and they brought him all the sick, those afflicted with
various diseases and pains, those oppressed by
demons, epileptics, and paralytics, and he healed
them. – Matt: 4:23-24
 That evening they brought to him many who were
oppressed by demons, and he cast out the spirits with
a word and healed all who were sick. This was to fulfill
what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “He took our
illnesses and bore our diseases.” – Matt: 8:16-17
Everywhere, he went healing
 And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages,
teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the
gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and
every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had
compassion for them, because they were harassed
and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. – Matt
9:35
 Jesus, aware of this, withdrew from there. And many
followed him, and he healed them all and ordered
them not to make him known. – Matt 12:15
Jesus healed right there and then
 God’s time is always NOW!
 Jesus healed everyone right there and then!
 Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it
is in heaven - Matt 6:10
 From the days of John the Baptist until now, the
kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing,
and forceful men lay hold of it. – Matt 11:12
 Therefore they said to Him, “What shall we do, so
that we may work the works of God?” Jesus
answered and said to them, “This is the work of God,
that you believe in Him whom He has sent.” – John
6:29
He healed all, He healed NOW!
 Summary:



If we know that it is always the Father’s will
and the time is always now we will pray
whenever and for whomever, for whatever, as
the Lord leads
Faith needs to be in operation
If you don’t believe that it is God’s will to heal
ALL and NOW, then you’ll likely not be able to
pray the prayer of faith that James talks about.
3. The Importance of Faith
 Jesus always looked for faith



In the person needing healing (your faith has
made you well)
Or their friends or family ( 4 friends lower
paralytic through the roof; Syrophenician
woman)
Or the minister (disciples not able to cast out
demon from epileptic boy)
Issues That Hinder Healing











Is God willing?
Is it his time?
I don’t have enough faith
I don’t have enough anointing
Pride
Disobedience
Passivity
I am not worthy to be healed / too sinful
My sickness is too serious for God to heal
God gives sickness to make us better
Plain old unbelief
Things That Help Healing
 Honesty
 Humility – deal with pride
 Vulnerability – dealing with fear of man
 Desperation
 Persistence
 Compassion
 Authority
 Power
 Prayer
 FAITH!
4. Authority and Power (Anointing)
 Jesus gives his disciples authority and power
 When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave
them power and authority to drive out all demons and
to cure diseases, and he sent them out to preach the
kingdom of God and to heal the sick. – Luke 9:1-2
 Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all
creation. He who has believed and has been baptized
shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be
condemned. These signs will accompany those who
have believed: in My name they will cast out demons,
they will speak with new tongues; they will pick up
serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not
hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will
recover. – Mark 16:15-18
We’ve got what it takes!!
 Jesus gives his disciples authority and power
 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do
what I have been doing. He will do even greater things
than these, because I am going to the Father. – John
14:12
 We are “little anoint-lings!”
 The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has
anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has
sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and
recovery of sight for the blind, to release the
oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour. –
Luke 4:18-19
 And in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians.
– Acts 11:26
5.
Practicalities for Healing the Sick
 Treat sickness as an enemy!
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came
that they may have life and have it abundantly. – John 10:10
 ¼ of all the sicknesses that Jesus dealt with were from
demons
 Be settled in your heart and mind that Father wants to heal
the sick
 Doubt your doubts!
 Everything we do is based on the FINISHED WORK OF
CHRIST ON THE CROSS
 IF we are sweating and straining to make the healing
happen then we are operating in a wrong spirit. It’s God’s
work, our simple faith
 You don’t have to have a word of knowledge to heal the sick –
woman with issue of blood, just be obedient to what he has
already called us to do

Be led by the Spirit
 We have to persist – a sign of faith – unjust judge
 You may have to pray more than once
 Don’t have an all or nothing attitude – healing can





come in increments
A 1% improvement is as much a miracle as 100%
because it’s God who is doing it anyway!
Forgiveness may have to feature in the healing
Be bold!
You may have to control the circumstances if
possible. Jesus kicked unbelief out
As with all things, BE LED BY THE SPIRIT
5 step model for healing ministry
 Five step healing model:
 Interview
 Prayer selection
 Kingdom of God, Come. Will of God, Be done!
 This healing belongs to me because of what Jesus did
on the cross. I receive my healing now in Jesus name.
 Prayer of faith, authority, laying on of hands, anointing
with oil
 Ask for any change in symptoms
 Post prayer direction
 If healed
 If not healed
Words of Knowledge
 See it
 Hear it
 Feel it
 Read it
 Know it
 Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s
good pleasure to give you the kingdom. –
Luke 12:32
