Romans 10:9-10
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy
mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe
in thine heart that God hath raised him
from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth
unto righteousness; and with the mouth
confession is made unto salvation.
1 Timothy 6:12-14
1Timothy 6:12-14
12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold
on eternal life, whereunto thou art also
called, and hast professed a good
profession before many witnesses.
13 I give thee charge in the sight of God,
who quickeneth all things, and before
Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate
witnessed a good confession;
14 That thou keep this commandment
without spot, unrebukeable, until the
appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Matt. 26:63-66;
Luke 22:70;
John 19:7.
1. Jesus is “the Christ”
the anointed Messiah
2. Jesus is “the Son of God”
3. Jesus is “the Son of
the Living God”

First: the evidence is overwhelming, and
many died for their witness to its truth.
Second: … because it leads to
everlasting life.
Romans 10:10
Third: … because God’s name is
behind the decree to confess Jesus
Philippians 2:9-11
Fourth: … because it contains a
summary of the whole truth of
Christianity
1 John 4:15
Two Different Kinds of Confessions
1. The confession the alien sinner
makes of his belief in Jesus as the
Son of God.
2. The confession of sins the erring

NOT a Confession …
“that God has for Christ’s sake
already pardoned your sins”
But a confession that you believe in
Jesus as the Son of God
These are the Lord’s commands …
1. That men BELIEVE in Christ
2. Turn away from sin in REPENTANCE
3. CONFESS their faith in Christ
4. Be buried in BAPTISM for
the remission of sins
Jesus said:
“ Whosoever therefore shall confess
me before men, him will I confess also
before my Father which is in heaven.
But whosoever shall deny me before
men, him will I also deny before my
Father which is in heaven.”
