LSAC Funding Innovative Projects Grant Application (con’t) • Full description of project including goals/objectives*, LS strategic plan alignment*, innovative traits*, membership stimulus*, plan of action (incl. dates)*, target audience*, event seeding plans*, line-item budget, and evaluation plan-measureŦ, toolsŦ and future planning with dataŦ. *1000 characters, Ŧ 500 characters • Check and mind all restrictions: honoraria, alcoholic beverages, meals for LS members, ACS membership dues, pass-through donations to other individuals or organizations American Chemical Society 10 LSAC GRANTS • For assisting with booking Online Speaker Directory speakers (travel expense reimbursement for 2015 bookings) • Science Cafes • Specialty grants with a specific focus are typically introduced after Spring national meetings – Mini, Section Sustainability Programming or other ACS group Link; Link2 LSAC GRANTS • Leadership Development Mini-Grant – Hold leadership development courses in your local section area • Information from courses can be useful for LS leaders, but also other local businesses or universities • Local Section Sustainability Programming Mini-Grant LS Sustainability Info – Encourage local sections to develop programming that furthers the discussion of sustainability within the chemical enterprise (ACS Strategic Plan Goals #2 and #4). • including (but not limited to) speakers at LS meetings, Science Cafés, workshops, educational programs, community events, or other innovative programming concepts. – Grants up to $500 are available on a rolling basis to enable sustainability related programming. LSAC GRANTS • Science Café Mini-Grant (Science Cafe info) – Promote scientific literacy among local citizens while invigorating your LS and stimulating thinking among nonscientists about questions of the day that have a scientific underpinning. • Provide a relaxed, open venue for nonscientists and scientists to discuss current topics. • Often held in coffee shops, bars, restaurants or bookstores, anywhere people gather, increase science literacy in communities across America. • Focus on a specific topic and can include a variety of approaches; a single speaker, a panel discussion, or include a video or trivia and can consist of a speaker or speakers and a group discussion. • Bridging the Gap: Supporting K-12 Teachers of Chemistry (K12) – Assist LS in supporting K-12 Teachers of Chemistry. • CCA Outreach Event Mini-Grant (CCA Outreach) – Assist LS in planning an outreach event unrelated to NCW or CCED in 2015. Other GRANTS • Corporation Associates Local Section Grant (CorporateAssociatesGrant) – Committee on Corporation Associates has a funding program for ACS Local Sections to promote industry focused events at the local section level. • Soliciting grant proposals from ACS LSs for industry-related events in 2015. Events can range from job fairs with local chemical employers, résumé writing workshops, networking receptions, hosted panel discussions with industry leaders and other similar forums to benefit those LS members employed in industry. • Funds up to $1,000 given to help subsidize the costs associated with producing and hosting these events. • Technical Division Innovative Project Grant (DivisionIPG) – Fund new Division projects; conceive of and implement innovative projects to strengthen the function of the Division • Maximum funding up to $7500 per project. • Support interaction of other ACS LSs, ACS Divisions, ACS committees, ACS international student chapters and other professional organizations. Other GRANTS • Student Chapter Grants (Student Chapters) • National Meeting Travel ( up to $300), December 3 – Cover registration fees, lodging and/or transportation • Undergraduate Programming at Regional Meetings (up to $2800), October 15, November 12 – Develop undergraduate events and activities • Community Interaction (up to $500), March 27 – Improve science learning experience of minority children through special projects • Innovative Activities (up to $500), March 27 – Support new and innovative chemistry-related projects • Student Inter-chapter Relations (up to $750), November 14 – Host an inter-chapter event • ACS-Hach High School Chemistry Classroom (up to $1500), February 1 (Hach) – Support ideas that enhance classroom learning and foster student development • ChemClub Community Activities (up to $300), April 1, June 1 (ChemClub) – Support chartered ACS ChemClubs in community interactions by service projects or improving science learning experiences.
