OneGeology-Europe Project essentials • Started 11 September 2008; • Duration 2 year; • Total budget €3.25M; • EC contribution €2.6M • Funded by EC DG Information Society and Media; • 10 Work Packages; • 29 Partners from 20 countries. OneGeology-Europe Major objectives • Make existing digital geological spatial data more easily discoverable, accessible and useable; • Make a significant contribution to the progress of INSPIRE – i.e. develop systems and protocols to better enable the discovery, viewing, downloading and sharing of core European spatial geological data; • Enable the Groundwater and Soils directives, GMES, GEOSS and SEIS to deliver; • Demonstrate best practice examples of the delivery and application of geological spatial data in the public and private sectors and share that best practice. OneGeology-Europe Progress to date • User needs being analysed; • Geoscience data specification initiated; • Metadata collected across Europe; • Version1 of portal developed; • Workshop on licensing and access organised; • High resolution and cross-border data being selected; • Active links with global (including OGC), US, Canadian, Australian initiatives.
