General Terms of Reference
• The facility will be universally accessible to
those in need
• We will create an environment where a
wheel chair will be seen as a natural thing
• Kids will be totally exposed to a natural
environment
• We will focus on sustainability – can the
site be maintained economically
• We will preserve the uniqueness of the park by
not duplicating other facilities or trying to be all
things to all people
• Our brand is –EcoPark and we will focus on
environmental principals
• We will maintain a balance between education
and recreation
• We will not destroy the park through overuse
• We will create environments that will attract
animals and support a wide variety of
ecosystems
THE PARK WILL FULFILL A DUAL PURPOSE
1. An ongoing Recreational & Educational
Experience for families and children “in need”
• Boys and Girls Club Programs
• Programs or other organizations fitting the mission
• Day camps, recreational uses, on going programs

• Provide open space for old time fun like
sack races, egg toss, tug of war, etc.
• Fitness circuit
• Gardening from planting to harvest
• Zip-lines that dip into the water
• Wall climbing, high rope climbing
• Water slide
• Lego land concept

• Adventure playground where kids can
have tools and materials to construct forts
• Ultimate Frisbee
• Pumpkin patch
• Small hobby farm – organic fruits and veg.
• Vermiculture
• Treasure hunts – find and identify nature
and plant life

• Classroom tours of trails and interpretive centre,
lookouts and the island study area
Tours will be limited to a specific number per year and
under strict rules.
Not to be a replacement for the Board of Education and
those in need take priority
