Why ONS should do analysis
• To fully exploit the use of the Census data/outputs
• Helping users to understand and interpret Census
outputs
• Contextualising Census outputs by incorporating
them in topic reports, adding insight to policy and
other users
• Ability to analyse data at low levels of detail
• More robust survey outputs

• Total Fertility Rates for 2011 by mother's country of birth
• Analysis by family size

International Migration:
• comparison of international migration estimates for year to
March 2011 with 2011 Census data on address one year ago, &
estimates for the past decade with 2011 data on year of arrival
• analysis of the characteristics of both long-term and short-term
international migrants
• analysis of residents of communal establishments by country of
birth and nationality
• comparison of activity last week with reason for migrating
collected in the IPS
Internal Migration:
• comparison of internal and cross-border migration estimates by
age and sex
• development of a data visualisation tool that maps internal
migration flows
