share what you are saying to senators, representatives, and editors to get them to take action on the
resolutions and media.
3. Practice laser talk: Asking your Rep. or Senator to write to the President on the $1 billion 4 year pledge we
are seeking.
4. Make decisions on:
 Who will pitch the editor(s), write a LTE or oped?
 Who will reach out to which Senator on cosponsoring the Gavi resolution and on sending a letter to
the President (sample letter attached)?
 Who will reach out to which Representative on cosponsoring the Gavi resolution and on sending a
letter to the President (sample letter attached)?
 What kind of community outreach could we do on Gavi? E & A? Forum with a pediatrician?
Advocacy Workshop? Partner event with Lions Club (Gavi contributors), etc. Do we need resources?
Do we want to do it around the Nov. 8, 11:30 am ET International Webinar (in place of conference
call)?
5. Who is our media point person? Grasstops point person? Action Network Manager? Who do we need to
recruit yet for these positions? Inform your RC.
6. Write a letter together using the action sheet

Senators to Write to President Obama
Engage: Health crises like the Ebola outbreak are
dominating the headlines, and Americans are wondering,
“What can we do to help those who are suffering and
protect ourselves?”
Problem: If we don’t create stronger health delivery systems,
we undermine our ability to respond to these crises.
Inform: Fortunately, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance is providing
lifesaving vaccines to poor nations and strengthening their
healthcare systems to better handle crises.
Call to Action: Gavi is a good investment. Will you write to
President Obama and ask that the US commit to $1 billion
over 4 years at the January 2015 Gavi replenishment
conference?
