1997, AReSE is the first French environmental and social rating
agency. Approximately 20 French SRI funds use AReSE sectorbased social and environmental ratings. AReSE has a staff of
13, including 10 research analysts.
Avanzi s.r.l., covering Italy. Avanzi was created in 1997 to
provide independent research to organizations engaged in
designing and implementing sustainable development
strategies. As of June 2000, Avanzi has a team of 8
researchers.
CaringCompany AB, covering Sweden, Denmark, Finland,
Norway, Poland and the Baltic states. CaringCompany has been
active in the field of social investing since 1992. Through its
office in Poland, CaringCompany also provides research on
Polish companies. As of June 2000, CaringCompany has a staff
of 10 including 7 researchers

Centre Info SA, covering Switzerland. Founded in 1990, Centre
Info provides corporate research, country sustainability research
and consulting services. Centre Info is also the first institution in
Switzerland that provides corporate governance services such as
proxy voting recommendations. Centre Info has a staff of 11,
including 7 research analysts.
Fundación Ecología y Desarrollo, covering Spain.
Fundación Ecología y Desarrollo is a non-profit organisation
established to promote business sustainability and provides
social and environmental research on Spanish companies.
Fundación Ecología y Desarrollo promoted the first Spanish
Ethical Investment Fund.
Kinder, Lydenberg & Domini & Co. Inc., covering the United States.
Founded in 1990, Kinder Lydenberg Domini is dedicated to
researching the social records of publicly traded companies in the
U.S. It maintains the Domini Social Index. Over 130 clients subscribe
to KLD’ s database service, Socrates, which includes profiles on the
660 largest publicly traded U.S. corporations. As of June 2000, it had
a staff of 34, including 24 research analysts.
MEMBERS
Michael Jantzi Research Associates Inc., covering Canada. Its
main product, the Canadian Social Investment Database, contains
social and environmental profiles of over 400 publicly traded
Canadian companies. In February 2000, MJRA launched the Jantzi
Social Index, a market capitalization weighted index consisting of
60 Canadian companies screened for social and environmental
criteria. MJRA has a staff of 7, including 6 research analysts.
Pensions & Investment Research Consultants Ltd, covering the
United Kingdom and Ireland. PIRChas been providing social
responsible investment research to institutional investors since 1986.
PIRC is the UK's leading provider of corporate governance analysis
and proxy voting advice, covering the UK All-Share Index of 850
companies. PIRC' has a staff of 15 environmental and labor
specialists and financial analysts.
SCORIS GmbH, covering Germany. The company was founded in
September 2000 as a joint venture from several SIRI Group
members. Its corporate research is covering the main German
stock-indices.

Triodos Research BV, covering the Netherlands. Triodos
Research is a division of Triodos Bank. In 1990 Triodos started
screening companies for the first sustainable Dutch
investment product, the Meerwaarde Polis life insurance. In
1996 the research activities were separated in a department,
Triodos Research. Currently, Triodos Research also provides
services for Triodos Meerwaarde Fund and Triodos Bank
Private Banking. Next to that Triodos Research provides
customized social investment products and services to a
number of institutional clients in the Netherlands. As of June
2000, it had a staff of 8, including 7 research analysts.
STANDARDS & QUALITY INSURANCE
Standards & Quality Insurance Committee
The SIRI Group is committed to maintaining consistent and comparable research standards among its
member organisations. The Group’s structure includes a Standards and Quality Committee made up
of 3 members of the Group. This Committee assures that all members harmonise research
methodologies and procedures. The Committee is also responsible for developing guidelines to assist
the member organisations in implementation of the standards.

Communications with corporations being evaluated
Availability of research data to clients
Responsibilities for timely servicing of SIRI Group– related clients
Use of the SIRI Group name and logo

International Harmonised Profiles
SIRI Group members have collaborated on the development of a harmonised format for the reporting of
basic information gathered by SIRI Group members on companies in their local markets.

Exclusionary screens
The SIRI Group 500 will consist of profiles of 300 European (FTSE 300 Europe), 100 American
(S&P100), 35 Canadian (TSE35) and 65 Japanese companies. They will be available in a database.
The SIRI Group guarantees regular updates of the profiles, and a revision revised at least once a year.

Exclusionary Screening Lists
The SIRI Group maintains a comprehensive lists of publicly traded companies in all markets worldwide
(both developed and emerging markets) that are involved in the following areas:
Alcohol
Gambling
Tobacco
Major Military Contracting
Nuclear Power
Firearms
These comprehensive lists are drawn from multiple sources and are implemented with consistent
methodology and definitions across markets. Local SIRI Group members monitor the companies on
these exclusionary lists, determine percentage of revenues derived by companies from these activities,
and update these lists regularly. Research for this service is co-ordinated by Kinder, Lydenberg, Domini
& Co.
The SIRI Group exclusionary screening service provides background on the nature and extent of the
company’s involvement. In addition, these lists can be delivered electronically in formats compatible
with trading systems for use by compliance departments wishing to block the trades of restricted
securities.
