Research Institute for Professional Practice, Learning & Education
Some clarifications
• People submitting PhDs before Feb/March 2015
census date are eligible to apply
• Working from a general principal that around 3
years is probably the optimal length of time for a
postdoc, for people interested in moving into a
teaching-research academic positon
• Starting date and ‘configuration’ is flexible and will
be crafted to suit successful applicants’ career
goals

What ‘returns on investment’
are we looking for?
People who:
• demonstrate strong potential to go on to become
future research leaders within RIPPLE;
• bring additional strengths to already strong teams of
CIs (‘strong’ = track record in attracting significant
external funding; ‘teams’—must include several
continuing FoE academics working in FoR 13);
• have strong collaborative skills; and able to
contribute to bringing together FoE academics who
have attracted significant external funding but may
not have worked together yet.

Hence, advert lists strategic
strengths as:
• Children’s speech, language and literacies (new
grouping)
• Early childhood curriculum, policy and practice
• Educational transitions and change
All three strategic areas are cross-campus, so
advertised as Albury/Bathurst/Wagga

More clarifications
• Not a ‘traditional’ social sciences postdoc (i.e.,
not focused on ‘doing your own research’ for 3
years
• Not a glorified RA role
• Provides wonderful career opportunities to grow
and develop as a researcher and for career
advancement within the context of successful
research teams
