Gazpacho
(cold tomato soup)
-This food was originally
made popular in Andalusia
- It is really easy to make
- The soup is usually served
with a side of croutons or
bread rolls
- It makes a refreshing
entree in the warmer
summer months
Tortilla de Patatas
(spanish omelet)
- This is considered as
common food in spain
- Many Spanish families will
serve the Tortilla de Patatas
for any given meal
- This dish is perfect for
breakfast, lunch or dinner
- You will find slices of this
tortilla at just about every
tapas bar in Spain.
Tapas
(„appetizers”)
-When eating tapas, you
can usually choose from an
exquisite variety of delicious
appetizers or snacks
- There are cold tapas
(olives, cheeses, vegetables,
smoked salmon) and warm
tapas (fried shrimps, backed
squid)
- You can find many bars
and restaurants in Spain
offering only tapas
Chorizo
(pork sausages)
-Chorizo is a hard sausage
used in many different meals
in Spanish cuisine
- You may find it in tapas
and sandwiches, and can be
eaten without any further
cooking
- It has a rich red color due
to the smoked red peppers
from which it is made
Paella
(rice meal)
-This traditional Spanish rice
dish originated in Valencia
- Yellow rice is seasoned
with saffron and a wide
variety of meat and
seafood is added
- The world's largest paella
fed over 100.000 people
Pulpo a la Gallega
(galician octopus)
-The flavor is subtle and
inoffensive but the texture
might put some people off
-Though Galicia is most
famous for the gallego
version, this is actually the
most popular way of eating
it throughout Spain
- Octopus actually has two
textures - the inner muscle is
slightly chewy, while the
exterior (where the suckers
are) is very slippery
Gambas Ajillo
(Garlic Prawns)
-Delicious large prawns,
cooked in olive oil with
garlic and spicy chili flakes
- This is considered as „fast
food” in Spain
Pescado Frito
(fried fish)
-Though
it
is
a
stereotypically British dish,
fried fish is done best in
Andalusia
- In Cadiz, they serve a
number of different types of
fish
- It had been also eaten by
the Romans in historic Rome
Flan de Huevos
(caramel custard)
-Eggs, milk, lemon rind and
caramelized
sugar
are
combined to make a sweet
dessert food
- In almost every Spanish
restaurant you'll find "Flan
casero", home made Caramel

Churro
(caramel custard)
-Churros are typically fried
until they become crunchy,
and may be sprinkled with
sugar
- They are normally eaten
for breakfast dipped in hot
chocolate
- In southern, southwestern
and southeastern Spain the
word churro usually refers to
the
thicker
variant,
called porra elsewhere
