Stable Bond Rating
•
The city maintains a Aa1 Moody’s Bond Rating in
2013
•
According to Moody’s Investor Services:
1.
The city's sizeable tax base will likely continue to grow due
to a State approved 10 year extension of the City’s Tax
Increment District # 3 and its proximity to Madison
2.
The city’s total taxable property value increased 2.2% to
$2.7 billion in tax year 2012, bringing it back to its 2007
level.
3.
Dane County's diverse economy is, over the long-term,
expected to remain strong.


The Library outranks all libraries in the South Central Library System for number
of items loaned and borrowed.
Senior Center
Memory Café: is a social opportunity for folks with dementia and their
families to get together in a warm and welcoming environment. The
program offers activities, entertainment and honest conversation about the
challenges of living with dementia.
Breakfast for your Brain: is a national pilot study to authenticate this
popular program as an evidence based program to maintain and improve
brain health. This bi-weekly class meets over ten weeks.
Pleasant View Golf Course

Pleasant View Golf Course benefited from warmer weather in
March and October/November. For the year, PVGC's operating
profit was $454,757 which is $36,372 more than 2011's operating
profit.
For 2013 golf course staff will
continue to work on the
conditions of the greens and
bunkers as it’s important to us
to provide our guests with a
favorable playing
surface. Starting this year
we’ve opened the clubhouse
for cross country skiers and
snow-shoers on Sundays, and
we’ll look to expand on the
one day a week opening should
the snow conditions allow us to
do so.
Parks, Recreation & Forestry
The Middleton Splash Pad at Lakeview Park is enormously
popular with children and their parents.
Bauman Aquatic Center funds about 85% of its
operating costs through user fees.

Challenges for 2013

Reducing our golf course debt through
sale of surplus land at Pleasant View.

Promoting further redevelopment of
Downtown Middleton and a possible
parking ramp to serve that growth.

Finding a reliable revenue source for
storm water maintenance of our many
facilities.

Keeping operating costs as low as possible
while providing quality public services.
Thank you!
