Bank Gutmann presents itself
Nikolaus Görg
May 22, 2012
Which way to go?
There is always a crisis somewhere!
Our task as private bankers and wealth managers is
to check, whether we are still on the right track!
The high level of uncertainty in this business
requires an enormous amount of confidence and
trust.

What are the characteristics of « trust »
10
• It starts from zero! But only once! There is
also distrust!
8
• It takes time to build!
Level of trust
6
• It is asymmetric! Trust takes much longer to
attain than it takes to lose it.
4
• It also requires much more effort to regain it
a second time!

So how to attain and keep trust
• Managing trust means managing expectations!
• Managing expectations requires understanding and respecting your counterpart!
• Avoid disappointments at all costs, good experience is the most powerful „trustgenerator“!
• Align interests, avoid conflicts of interests!
• Utilize independent and objective institutions as intermediaries or to verify the
quality of your business.
