Written Examination
The Written Exam
Written exam can be of various forms:
Multiple Choice
Writing Proficiency Essay
The type of examination will be stated on
the “Notice of Written Test” that invites
you to the written examination

Select the right answer from several
possible answers for a specific question

grammar, punctuation and
sentence structure

taking timed multiple choice
tests
Borrow practice exams from your library
Search for free test preparation materials
from reputable sources on the Internet

Know the location of the exam
Map out the location
Visit the location beforehand if necessary
Bring essential items to the exam
Picture ID (e.g., driver’s license)
Reading Glasses
Calculator (if allowed)

Listen to proctor’s instructions
Listen to instructions to avoid
making costly mistakes
Budget your time
Do not spend too much time on one question
Return to the question when you have time

Read questions carefully and completely
Look for key words in the question to
understand what is being asked
(i.e., first, most, except, only)
Eliminate obvious wrong answers
Narrow down your possible correct answers
Guess! if all else fails

Mark your answer properly on the
Scantron sheet
Use a #2 pencil
Fill in bubble of your answer for the
appropriate question number

Check your work
If time permits, review your answers before
the timer rings.
Do your own work!
You may be disqualified from
this and all future recruitments
if caught cheating

Stop when timer rings
Put pencil down
Do not fill in any more answers on Scantron
Failure to stop may result in disqualification

After the Written Exam
Everyone should receive notification of
their written exam test results.
Before the exam, the proctor will give
detailed instructions on how candidates will
be notified of the test results.
