• Federal EIN (Employer Identification Number)
All businesses must have an EIN. Museums fall in
the “other” category for non-profit corporations.
Federal grant applications may ask for your EIN.
(Some state forms also require it.)

• DUNS NUMBER
The Data Universal Numbering System, DUNS, is a
unique nine-digit number issued for businesses and
maintained by Dun and Bradstreet (D and B). It is
copyrighted.
The Duns number is now required for submission of
all federal grant proposals.
