Genesis in ‘70’s

Established in 1984

Voluntary organization focused on spectrum management issues

Membership represents a cross section of the telecom industry

Provides a forum for discussion and resolution of problems of common interest to the coordination community

NSMA’s Key Objectives:

Develop technical and procedural recommendations

Provide a linkage between government regulations and industry practice

Proactively advise regulatory bodies on matters affecting radio frequency spectrum policy

The NSMA develops and publishes Recommendations and Reports

Recommendations are developed in Working Groups and are approved by a 15 member Board of Directors

Over 60 recommendations and reports have been issued

General meetings held 3 times each year

Interacts with the FCC and standards bodies such as the TIA

Take positions in regulatory arenas
