Astrid Ericsson was
born.
1941 – Astrid made up the
story of the world’s
strongest girl Pippi
Longstocking.
1944 – Astrid started
to write down the
stories about Pippi.
1949 – Nils Karlssonpyssling was
published and the
year after, Kajsa
Kavat and Kati in
America were
published.
1950s - Mio my Mio,
Karlsson on the roof,
Rasmus on the roam,
Sunnanäng and The
kids at
Bråkmakargata were
published.
1960s – Madicken, Emil
in Lönneberga and
We on Saltkråkan
were released
1973 – The brothers
Lionheart was
published
1981 – The book Ronja
Rövardotter was
published.
2002 – The great
authoress Astrid

died.

Pippi is 9 years old
and lives in a funny
house named Villa
Villerkulla. She lives
with her monkey Mr
Nilsson and her
spotted horse Little

Pippi as a movie
The year was 1949 and
the first movie about Pippi
Longstocking was
released. You got to follow
Pippi on an adventure with
her best friends Tommy
och Annika. The first movie
was directed by Per
Gunwall, and the following
movies by Olle Hellbom. In
Olle’s movies Pippi was
played by Inger Nilsson.
Animated Pippi
In 1997 they also made
an animated version of
Pippi Longstocking.

Emil in Lönneberga
Emil Svensson
Emil is a small boy who
lives in Lönneberga. Emil
is filled with ideas and
mischief.He often gets
into trouble and his father
gets very mad at him.
Then Emil runs as quickly
as he can to his little
shed, which we in
Sweden call ”snickerboa”.
Emil as a movie
In 1971, the first movie
about Emil and his
mischief was made.
Olle Hellbom directed
and the characters
were played by, for
example, Jan Ohlsson
and Allan Edwall.
Lotta on Bråkmakargatan
Lotta
Lotta is between 3-5 years
old. She has a brother
called Jonas and a sister
called Maria. Lotta’s best
friends are the ”bearpig”
Bamse and her neighbour
Aunt Berg. Even though
Lotta isn’t very old, she is a
very determined young lady
who really knows what she
wants.
Lotta becomes movie
The first movie about
Lotta was released in
1992. Lotta tries to
convince her mother
and father that she
actually knows how to
ride a bike. But where
could she find one?
The movie was directed
by Johanna Hald and
Lotta was acted by
Grete Havnesköld.
The second movie about
the girl on
Bråkmakargatan was
released in1993. It seems
to be a perfect day when
Lotta wakes up in the
morning, but her mother
makes her put on that
ugly sweater which just
itches. At the end of the
day, Lotta decides to
move out.
Karlsson on the roof
Karlsson and Baby-Brother
Baby-Brother is a completely
ordinary boy, who has a sister
called Bettan and a brother
called Bosse. They live in an
apartment in the middle of
Stockholm. The funny part is
that Baby-Brother has a friend
that nobody but he has met,
and he is called Karlsson,
Karlsson on the roof. Karlsson
is a big person in his prime
who lives on the roof and has
got a propeller on his back.
The first film about the
man on the roof was
released in1974. the
director was Olle
Hellbom and those
taking part were
among others Mats
Wikström, Staffan
Hallerstam and Catrin
Westerlund.
Karlsson is animated
2002 the first animated
Karlsson was released
as a movie.
