Leather Craft Leather Types
Chamois – A soft, pliable leather originally made from the skin of the chamois, a small goat-like antelope found in the high mountainous areas of Europe.
Uses include clothing and buffing cloths.

Cowhide – cows.
A leather made from the hide of
Cowhide has a slight grain or corrugation and is a tough and strong leather.
It is usually very durable.
Uses include clothing, shoes, boots, and belts.

Calf skin – of a calf.
A leather made from the hide
The skin is soft and not as durable as cowhide.
It may show scratches and mars easily.
Uses include clothing and dress gloves.

Deerskin – A soft leather made from the skin of a deer.
Uses include clothing, pouches, and gloves.

Suede – The hair side of the leather that has been buffed by an abrading machine to give it a soft, burnished effect.
Uses include clothing and handbags.

Alligator – A leather made from the skin of any member of the crocodile family.
It is generally only the belly area of the animal.
The beauty of the leather is produced by the natural “enamel” appearance of the skin.
Uses include boots, luggage, and handbags.
