Student IT Centres – Open Access centres
• The Boole Basement has a number of open access computer labs.
• There are also a number of open access centres located elsewhere
around the campus.
• For a full list of the open access centres please see the SIT website.

• Before you can use any of these centres you will need to set up
your Student IT Account.

Student IT Account
A personalised UCC Student IT Account is available to all
registered students. It is required to use the following services:
• Logon to the Open Access computers
• Using your personal device on the wireless internet service
• To release print jobs
Password issued either at registration or at the
Student IT Helpdesk in the Boole Basement

Student IT Account
• Username: This is your Student ID number
• Password: Issued to students during registration or
afterward by the Student Helpdesk in the Boole
• If you lose your password go to the Boole Basement
Helpdesk with your Student ID card and they will reset
your password

Portal Account
• Your Portal information is personalised and the site incorporates
access to:
• Your student records
• Your student e-mail account
• Your Print Account
• Also links to Blackboard and your Library Account
• Accessible from the website http://sit.ucc.ie
• Log in using your Student ID Number
and the portal@UCC Password posted/e-mailed to you by the
Admissions Office

Portal Account - Umail
• An email address is automatically created for each student.
• Your email address is [email protected]
e.g. [email protected]
• The Email link in portal@UCC takes you student email account inbox
• Check your Umail regularly!
• The university will use this address when issuing official correspondence, e.g.
registration details, exam information etc.

Blackboard
Blackboard is an Online Learning Application
• Online Access to Lecture Notes
• Online Submission of Assignments
• Online Course Information and Staff contact details
• Discussion Groups and Forums
• To access the Blackboard service go to use the link in portal@UCC
OR
Use http://blackboard.ucc.ie
Please note not all Lecturers use Blackboard!
You will be informed by the individual lecturers regarding its use.

Wireless Network Access
All registered UCC students are allowed to connect their laptops,
smartphones and tablets to the new eduroam Student Wi-Fi service.
To connect to eduroam:
1. Activate your Student IT Account
2. Configure your device by following steps outlined
on website http://www.ucc.ie/en/sit/wireless/
3. If you have any problems connecting contact
Student Helpdesk in the Boole Basement

Printing Service
• Printing is available from the open access IT centres.
• Print Release stations (printers) are located in all the main
Open Access centres – for a map see http://sit.ucc.ie
• Log in at the Print Release station with your network log on
account details and print your file
• Follow Me Printing
• Click print now
• Release print job any time between now and 6 hours from
now at any Print Release station

Printing - Print Account Balance
• To be able to print you must first credit your UCC Print
Account
• Your Print Account can be accessed through Portal
• Instructions on topping up your Print Balance can be found
on the website http://sit.ucc.ie/

A4 Black & White single-sided (Simplex)
7c per page
A4 Black & White double-sided (Duplex)
6c per page
(12c per sheet)

Uprint
• Uprint allows you to print from your laptop, from home or
any location on campus
• Go to http://uprint.ucc.ie
• Logon by using you Student IT Account
• Print job stays in print queue for up to 6 hours.
