Healthcare As We Know It!

• • • • • • Incredibly Expensive Often Wasteful & Inefficient Fragmented Communication Access is More and More Challenging Over Utilization of Specialists & Urgent/Emergency Care Sickcare----NOT HEALTHCARE!

What If?

• • Healthcare Utilization Could Increase • • While Costs Simultaneously Decrease?

Increased Utilization of Primary Care Lower Costs for the Employer, the Health Plan, & the Employee It Sounds Too Good to be True but its Happening for Employers that Implement Onsite Clinics

miCare Concept

• • • • Onsite/near-site health clinic providing access to all employees and dependents on the health plan All services are provided at no charge to the patients (office visits/medical procedures/labs/etc.) Goal is to increase access and utilization of primary care. Emphasis is placed on wellness/prevention, chronic disease management, and acute care miCare serves as a medical home providing integrated and accountable care.

miCare Model

Removes the traditional barriers to healthcare by creating an efficient delivery system that is: 1.) Free 2.) Convenient 3.) Engaging Transforms the traditional paradigm of fee for service to purchasing based on true cost Savings are achieved: 1.) By purchasing healthcare on a wholesale basis 2.) By increasing primary care utilization, thereby increasing the overall health and wellness of patients while simultaneously lowering their health risks and reducing claims expenditures over the long run.

The miCare clinic

Is staffed and managed by miCare Clinic hours are tailored to the needs of the client and their employees and dependents Typically staffed with a lead doctor for 50% of the time and a mid-level for the other 50% Is managed with a wellness focus and evidence based medicine with no hidden agenda for referrals or unnecessary care Is supported with extensive reporting, consultation, and a full communication plan

Integration- A key differentiator

• • • • Integrated care between the providers, the health plan, and the employer Integrated clinical and claims data that provides a full picture of care to the miCare team and extensive reporting to the employer Monitoring gaps in care and providing actionable data that assists in targeting key health concerns and engaging the patient One communication platform that integrates primary care with disease management and wellness programs

Some considerations…..

300 employees or more (plus their dependents) that can access the clinic • Shared clinics are becoming increasingly appealing Limited employee turn over Need to have or adopt a wellness culture from the top down Confidentiality is key

The Dollars and “Sense” of it

• • • • Break even after 1 st year Average ROI is 1.5:1 to 3:1 Costs $40 to $75 per employee per month We can put together proformas for further consideration • • • Soft dollar savings are evident but hard to quantify Concierge medicine that actually costs less than the retail market Ensure that your model has a emphasis on the business side

Thank you!
