Not every chapter will be covered. A study guide will be given that has the exact same questions on the quiz but in a different order (numbers and letters). Class Work All class work is put into a notebook/portfolio. I keep a list of the Table of Contents and powerpoints on my website www.portolams.org I also keep an example notebook in class. I mostly need: paper towels, tissue, AND wipes now if you have extra. 7/21/2015 Homework/Textbooks Directed Reading Worksheets (DRWs) (use textbook) Science Textbooks stay at home. Work not completed on time will have points taken off. Students that fall behind on class work, should do it for homework. Homework continued… Homework is written on the board and students write it in agenda at the beginning of class Homework can also be found on my website: You can subscribe to it so that you know when new work is posted or updated. 7/21/2015 Homework Website How to get to homework portion of website: Scroll down and under “Classes” click on the period for your class. Click on “See All” to see previously posted homework. Click on Subscribe: will send you a link when I update the website, usually once a week. MiSiS (Passport) vs. Jupiter We are currently in transition in the district from schools individually paying for a program like Jupiter to using a centralized program called MiSiS. Originally we had to use it for grades starting August, now it’s not until January. 7/21/2015 Jupiter Grades: Online Grading Jupiter Grades All students will bring home a temporary login sheet. Parents will be able to monitor student progress reports on jupitergrades.net Parents will be emailed when a student is missing an assignment Please keep your most updated contact information on jupiter grades website. 7/21/2015 First Progress Report: Friday, September 12 The school sends home progress reports every five weeks Not a final grade until December The most updated grade is in the detailed report on Jupiter Grades. 7/21/2015 CONTACT INFORMATION School Website: www.portolams.org Email Me: [email protected] Period 3 conference, each day different time due to rotating bell schedule. We will try to include all core teachers if requested. 7/21/2015 Projects Based Learning In science we do at least one project per unit. Future projects may include: Poster Project Power Point Presentation Erosion Photo Project Survey Project Building Models Smart Cities Program: Spain We will use webcams to collaborate with students in Spain working on the same science project. Students in the program will have to come early once a month to communicate with the students in Spain.
