What is the Texas VLIC?
• The University of Texas at Austin’s new venture
investment competition for graduate students.
• Mimics the real world process of raising venture capital.
• Judges are investors, experienced entrepreneurs and
industry experts.

Who is eligible?
• University of Texas at Austin graduate students from any
department
• Graduate students played a major role in conceiving the
venture by having key management roles and owning
significant equity in the venture.
• Significant equity is defined as 50% or more of the equity
allocated to the management team and key advisors.

RideScout Student Veteran Award
• Separate cash prize award for teams with veterans
•To be eligible, teams must contain one or more U.S.
military veteran co-founders.
•Texas Venture Labs and its veteran advisory team
will make the final determination regarding a team’s
eligibility for the award.
•Award will be allocated to the highest ranking eligible
team

Submission requirements:
•STEP 1- Intent to compete
• Team, company info.
• Due Friday Dec. 12, 5:00 pm
• STEP 2- Company materials
• 2-page executive summary
• 10-page business plan (no more than 6 additional
appendix pages may be included)
•Due Monday Jan. 26, 5:00 pm

Presentation guidelines:
• 30 minutes total time with judges interrupting at any time
with questions.
• Each graduate student team member must participate in
the presentation.
• Open to the public.

How are the teams judged?
• Investor-ready judging rubric
• Which teams have the best chance of receiving new
venture funding.
• Each judge is looking to identify the company in
which they would invest their own money.

Awards available:
• RideScout Student Veteran Award - $ 2,000 cash
• Third Place - $2,000 cash
• Second Place - $3,000 cash
• First Place - $5,000 cash
•ATI Launch Package.
• Automatic berth into the 2015 Global VLIC (May 7-9)
with over $100,000 in awards.
