applications.

Purpose/Assessment of Module



To give students an overall grounding in the use of
common PC applications in solving business problems
The course will consist of lectures and practical
sessions over 12 weeks
Assessment will be through 2 assignments
 Assessment 1 – production of a spreadsheet and
report
 Assessment 2 – creation of a database and
associated documentation and the delivery of a
presentation.

5. easy filing & retrieval
Useful for storing large amounts of data in an organised
manner. Common database systems are:
personnel systems, order/invoicing systems,
warehouse systems, accounting systems etc.

Traditional business tool
 Allows :
 basic calculations using formulae consisting of
 Operands (sum, +, -,*,/)
 Functions – sum, SDEV, IF,
