Purpose of module - to develop an in-depth
knowledge of generic commercial software
applications.

Purpose/Assessment of Module
To give students an overall grounding in the use of
common PC applications in solving business problems
The course will consist of lectures and practical
sessions over 12 weeks
Assessment will be through 2 assignments
Assessment 1 – production of a spreadsheet and
report
Assessment 2 – creation of a database and
associated documentation and the delivery of a
presentation.

Useful for storing large amounts of data in an organised
manner. Common database systems are:
personnel systems, order/invoicing systems,
warehouse systems, accounting systems etc.
