Think first class
• AACSB International is the premier business
school accrediting body in the world.
• Do everything in a way that signals that your
school deserves to be accredited.
• A few extra dollars for printing, or,
accoutrements may help and can’t hurt.

Conduct a mock visit
• This achieves two purposes:
• It lets you identify weaknesses
• It wakes up your faculty and administration
• Think first class

Be an educator
• Faculty need to be educated prior to the visit.
Do assume that their excitement level is less
than yours.
• Students need to be brought up to speed. They
know even less than your faculty.
• The Business Advisory Board needs to know
what to say and not say.

Commit outreach
• Be visible - attend every conference you can and
ask every you can and how they approach the
thorny issues.
• Develop a small group of Deans who are going
through the same pressures. Misery loves
company.

Create a Team
• The entire School will be accredited. Everyone is
part of the team. Remember, secretaries can
make a break a visit.
• Keep a good documents room and be first class.

Structure the visit
• Work as early as possible to structure the visit.
• Educate those outside your school who will
visit.
• Overwhelm the team!
• Use your students to guide your team members
from appointment to appointment.

Get a motel room
• Going home during the visit is pointless since
you will not be in any condition to be nice to
your loved ones.
• The visit is intense. The Dean needs to be a
cheerleader though and keep everyone’s spirits
up.
