Closing the Door on Satan: Lesson 7
Through Obedience to God
And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal
salvation to all who obey Him,
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be
tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and
forty nights, afterward He was hungry. Now when the tempter
came to Him, he said, " If You are the Son of God, command
that these stones become bread." But He answered and said, "
It is written, ' Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every
word that proceeds from the mouth of God. '“
Matthew 4:1-4
Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the
pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, " If You are the Son of
God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: 'He shall give His
angels charge over you, ' and,' In their hands they shall bear
you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. '" Jesus said to
him, " It is written again, 'You shall not tempt the Lord your
God. ‘
Matthew 4:5-7
"You shall not tempt the Lord your God as you tempted Him in
Massah.
Deuteronomy 6:16
Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high
mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and
their glory. And he said to Him, " All these things I will give
You if You will fall down and worship me." Then Jesus said to
him, " Away with you, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall
worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve. ‘
Matthew 4:8-10
For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of
God.
Acts 20:27
I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ,
who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and
His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of
season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and
teaching.
2 Timothy 4:1-2
Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said
to Peter and the rest of the apostles, " Men and brethren, what
shall we do?" Then Peter said to them, " Repent, and let every
one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the
remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy
Spirit.
Acts 2:37-38
For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who
are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.“ And with
many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, "Be
saved from this perverse generation." Then those who gladly
received his word were baptized; and that day about three
thousand souls were added to them. And they continued
steadfastly in the apostles ' doctrine and fellowship, in the
breaking of bread, and in prayers. Acts 2:39-42
So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and
breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with
gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor
with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily
those who were being saved.
Acts 2:46-47
Have you done what you can and should to close that door on
Satan?
If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do
well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you
should rule over it.“ Genesis 4:7
We have limited time on this earth so we must use that time to
follow God and close the door on Satan!
