Over 250 DECA Members (100% membership)
The largest & most successful chapter in the state.
Raised $3000 for Hodgkins Lymphoma and Katie Long and Jenna Hale two
former students.
FH members have held a number of State and District Officer positions.
Have had over 40 students attend state in a given year.
Have had 20 students attend Nationals in a given year.
Missouri DECA Chapter of the Year 03/04 2010/2011.
Top 10 Chapter of the Year in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009.

DECA is an Association of
Marketing Students



More specifically…It is a student-centered
educational/professional organization that is cocurricular.
DECA mission: prepare emerging leaders and
entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance,
hospitality and management.
The Diamond is DECA’s brand symbol which
represents how it plans to fulfill its mission and
what the rewards will be to the students.

We will be holding a FHHS officer election next week. We
are looking for enthusiastic & dedicated juniors and
seniors to lead our DECA chapter to excellence.

There are some Leadership fieldtrips available for DECA members
to attend.
• District Fall Leadership which will be here in St. Charles on
Monday, September 20th. Other schools in attendance will be
all the Howells, Zumwalts, Wentzvilles, Troy and Washington
(Four Rivers). Attendees will participate in leadership
workshops, hear a motivational speaker and observe the
District 6 officer election.
• State Fall Leadership and Officer Election Conference will be at
the Lodge of the Four Seasons in Lake of the Ozarks on Oct.
16-17. It is designed to provide Missouri DECA members the
opportunity to develop leadership skills through participating
in the officer election process or by active involvement in the
Leadership Academy.

You will meet and develop so many new
friendships through DECA not only at a
school level but also at the District, State
and National Level
FH DECA will host an average of one social
per quarter. Examples are a BBQ social,
movie night, ice cream social, pizza party
and Halloween breakfast. Hopefully your
new officers will come up with some new
ideas!

2nd Semester you will have the opportunity to compete at a
school, district, state and national level in an area of
Marketing that interest you.
There are many areas to compete in such as:

What is Competition?




You will complete a 100 question test in the category of
your choice.
You will also participate a role play from your category. You
are given performance indicators in which you are judged
by.
All the scores from above are combined to determine
winners. At the district level you will compete against a
max of 40 students and generally the top 6 students move
on to the next level of competition.
NOTE: WINNERS ARE NOT ALWAYS THE “BOOK SMART”
PEOPLE. IT ALSO TAKES GREAT COMMUNICATION SKILLS.
Where is Competition?




We will host a mini-competition here
at school in January.
Districts will be in February at The
Mills Mall.
State will be in March. It is held at
the Lake of the Ozarks.
Nationals this year is in April in
Anaheim, CA!!!!!!!
Why Join?


This club will offer many opportunities for you on many
different levels. Whether you are shooting for being a
National Competitor or just enjoying the school level
activities offered.
As part of the class you are required to obtain Professional
Development Points for a grade each quarter. These pts.
can be obtained in many different ways. Being an active
DECA member offers a lot of opportunities to earn these
pts.

Scholarship money is available.

It looks great on College Applications and your Resume.

It is lots of fun!

