to start of the class.

STEP 2
After the class is completed send in
a copy of your grade; this does not
need to be an official copy.
AND
Proof of payment
(Copy of a cancelled check, a PAID course receipt, or a
credit card statement showing charge.)

You may receive up to $800 for
tuition reimbursements annually.
Monies are reimbursed per
school calendar year. Courses
completed from July 1 – ending
on/before June 30.

This money covers
only tuition or
registration – not
books, food or
lodging.

Your school has
funds set aside for
professional
conferences. Please
ask your building level
principal or designee to
learn more about
conference/workshop
request processes.
What happens if I move?
If you do not return
the next school
year, you will be
expected to
reimburse the
county for those
funds paid to you
in the previous
year.
Areas of critical shortages:
Those who have a provisional or a conditional
license in an area of critical shortage and are working
towards full endorsement in that area are eligible for
$1,000 extra reimbursement.
Staff requesting additional funding must file
applications for scholarships between June 1st and
June 30th of each year. Contact the HR Staff
Development Coordinator for application components
at 365-4534.
Areas of critical shortages:
1. Special education (emotionally
disturbed and learning disabled)
2. Mathematics
3. Foreign Language (Latin and German)
4. Science (Physics, Earth Science,
Chemistry, Physical Science, Biology)
Areas of critical shortages:
In each case, the agreement shall
contain a provision for a pro-rate
reimbursement to the School Board
of the monies received if the
teacher does not complete the
endorsement within three (3) years
of receiving the initial monies.

Areas of critical teaching
shortage are determined by
Hanover County with
guidance from the state
department but not all
inclusive of the state list.

To be eligible for these extra
monies for a two year time-frame,
the teacher must have at least six
(6) semester hours toward the
specific requirements established
by the Virginia Board of Education
to meet the endorsement, and …
Areas of critical shortages:
You must agree to teach for
a specified period of time in
the Hanover County Public
Schools after endorsement
requirements are met.
Areas of critical shortages:
These time frames are:
1. A teacher who receives additional
tuition reimbursement monies totaling
$1,500 to $2,000 will sign an
agreement to teach in Hanover for
three (3) years following completion of
the endorsement.

2. A teacher who receives additional
tuition reimbursement monies totaling
$1,000 to $1,500 will sign an
agreement to teach in Hanover for two
(2) years following completion of the
endorsement.

3. A teacher who receives additional
tuition reimbursement monies
totaling $500 to $1,000 will sign
an agreement to teach in Hanover
for one (1) year following
completion of the endorsement.

This extra $1,000
applies to
teachers only and
is not available to
support staff who
are seeking a
licensure.
Areas of critical shortages:
The extra $1,000 is not
available to a teacher
who is already licensed
in one of these fields
but decides to go back
to take some additional
coursework unless their
five-year plan denotes
that they are getting
licensed in a new area
of critical shortage.
