Set-Up Monster.com Account
1. Go to www.monster.com
2. Click the “Join Us!” link at top right
3. Complete the “Become a Member” page, and accept
Monster's terms of use and privacy policy.
4. Click “Join”
5. Stay Informed page offers Monster E-mails on updates &
targeted career opportunities

Beware of special offers interlaced within the Set-up process.
Click “Skip this offer’ to move to the next page of the Set-up
process.
6. “Your membership is official” screen

Upload Résumé on Monster.com
1.
On the “Official Membership” screen, click “Create a Résumé” link
2.
Select “Upload a File” in Create Resume dialog box
3.
Click Browse button and locate résumé on Desktop or portable media
4.
Complete all required fields:
a)
Name the résumé (Note: Employers will see this title when
searching for résumés)
b)
Desired job title
c)
Current career level and Work authorizaion for US menus
5.
“Make this résumé public” checkbox is already checked.
6.
Click "Create” button. “Your resume has been saved” screen will
appear
7.
Click “Tell us about yourself” & complete My Profile. Then click Save &
Continue

Searching for Jobs Using
Monster’s Engine
1. On the MONSTER banner:

Enter the Job Title
Enter Any Skills or Keywords
Enter the location (City/State/Zip)
Click “Search.”
2. “Most Relevant” results displayed by default.

To sort by Most Recent, select the “Date”
column on the far left-hand side.
3. Click Job Title link.

Copy & Paste Cover Letter
on Monster.com
1. Under
“My Profile” link click “Create a Cover Letter”
2. On the

“Cover Letter Builder” page:
Type a relevant title for the Cover Letter in the Title field (This
will only be visible to you, e.g. “Cover Letter #1”)
3. Open Cover Letter and
Copy and paste into the “Cover
Letter Builder” page OR Select a template
4. Click
“Save & Close” (orange button)
5. Confirm Résumé & Cover Letter have been posted by hovering
the mouse over My Profile link

Three Ways to APPLY to a Job Post
• Application Process 1 – Employer’s Internal Job System
•
Will require that you create a separate username and password to navigate
their system
•
May also require that you upload your résumé and cover letter to their site
•
Monster.com will acknowledge that you are leaving the Monster search
engine environment to apply for the job. When prompted, click “continue
to be directed to their website.”
• Application Process 2 – Monster.com Tools
•
Will require that you use your Monster.com username and password, as
well as the uploaded features for your résumé and cover letter
• Application Process 3 – Apply by Email
•
Will provide an email address link to the employer’s contact.
•
Will be asked to attached your résumé and cover letter to the email

TRACKING: Saving Job Posts
1. Under "Jobs” click the job title in Recently Searched
category
2. On the Job Tools right navigational panel, click Save
3. The Manage Saved Jobs page lists saved jobs with
following info:
a)
Date created
b)
Company name
c)
Job age
4. Under Jobs link, the number of jobs saved appears in
parenthesis

Click the “Saved Searches” button above the results; then
click the Save this Search button in the dialog box

Search criteria are presented in a new dialog box. In the Get
Email Alerts section, select how frequently E-mail updates on
this job search should be sent

Click Save.
