Critical Thinking
• A critical thinker is the hallmark of being an
educated person
• Need to have these skills so you won’t harm a
patient
• Examples:
What is Critical Thinking
(Thorough Thinking)
• Think beyond what is said or shown
• Consider options related to information
received
• Evaluate and make decisions based on
multiple sources of information
• Knowing the facts and being able to apply
them accurately
Do’s and Don’ts
• Do: look at all possible options
• Consider at least 3 alternative or possible
solutions
• Be able to say “ I don’t know”
• Determine the most effective solution to a
problem by asking others, reviewing the
literature and thinking about it

Use your gut reaction to a solution
Unquestioningly follow the rules
Respond to the pressures of our fast paced
