Impact :
 The impact of such large scale demonstration in compact patches (clusters
of 1000 ha. ) is reflected in the rice production of the state for the year 201213.The rice productivity has risen to 23.61 Qtl/ha.during 2012-2013 & 18.21
Qtl/ha.(affected by Philin) during 2013-14.
 Line sowing & Line transplanting maintains plant population per square
metre, ensures early crop establishment & better light interception, reduces
pest load,& envisages higher crop yield over traditional method.
 Use of low cost multi-row drum seeder has eased the line sowing process in
upland & shallow low land eco-systems and also minimised the seed
requirement.
 SRI method increases the number of ear bearing tillers thereby farmer gets
higher yield in comparison to traditional method.
Strategies Adopted to Implement Intervention w.r.to
Site Specific & Marketing Interventions
 Construction of Cluster Deep Borewell/Shallow Tubewell/Surface lift
Points will be taken up by the Deptt. Engineers.
 Construction of Semi covered Threshing Floor has already been
started by Deptt. Engineers
 Indent for procuring Paddy Cleaner cum Grader has been issued in
favour of Odisha Farm Machinery Research and Development
Centre, Bhubaneswar to facilitate production of FAQ Rice.
 Rubber Roller Sheller are being popularised through SLTC
approved suppliers.
Efforts for Increasing Procurement & Storage
 298 nos. of Storage Structures having capacity of 250 MT each are
under construction by the OSAM Board ( Odisha State Agril. Mktg.
Board)
 100 nos. of professional Agril. Oriented SHGs. / CIGs. / FIGs. / Agril.
Produce Processing Centre etc. are being promoted.

Issues & Constraints in Implementation of BGREI
 Non availability of HYV seeds released with in ten years in sufficient quantity
resulted less coverage during Kharif -2014
 Yield advantage Hybrid Paddy over the existing HYV rice is not encouraging
 Non availability of Certified Seeds of public Hybrids
 Cooking quality and palatability of Hybrid is not preferred by the farmers
 Lack of modern processing and value addition facilities for Hybrid Rice
