 What we’ve learned
– Very strong demand from a wide range of stakeholders
for this work, and implementation is proceeding very
rapidly
– Excellent business case for institutions and brokerage
services such as UCAS
– Combination rules turned out to be far harder than
expected, so starting with basic discovery data first
– The cross-department document management process
itself a major task in itself for most institutions to
produce a solid curriculum description

 For the future
– Tencompetence: adding value with navigation,
“stigmergic” recommendations and other
services that leverage basic data exchange
– Working on combination rules, but try to keep
things simple and look for 80/20 solution.
Maybe aim to persuade providers to simplify the
definitions rather than model them
– Look beyond discovery to improving the
admissions process itself
