Pre-Games impact

– Impacts first start to occur as the region prepares its bid for the event, but become more significant after the event is awarded. These impacts mainly relate to the investment and other preparatory activities required to stage the 2014 Games. In some cases, tourism could also start to pick up in advance due to the higher profile of the host city; •

Games impact

– This relates to the impact of the 2014 Games and the associated events immediately surrounding them; and •

Post-Games impact

– The longer-term impact, can last for a significant period of time after the 2006
