What Are
Staff Assisted Services?
Staff Assisted Services (also referred to as Core B Services)
include:
• Use of the Resource Room computers, fax,
copy machines, telephone, library
• Attend workshops and computer classes
• Guidance through the in-depth assessment
process to help you earn the CCWRC
• Assistance with your job search

Why Should YOU Want To
Earn The CCWRC?

The CCWRC has been adopted by 14 counties
throughout the San Joaquin Valley

It provides employers with the confidence that you
have the ability to perform the job(s) that you are
being referred to

Employers will recognize you as a prime candidate
for employment

You will be able to use it now and on future job
search opportunities in the San Joaquin Valley

You Can Earn the CCWRC
By…

Working closely with staff to ensure that you
have fulfilled all of the requirements

Successfully completing the in-depth
assessment process that consists of two
types:
• “Hard” assessments = a computer-based job skills
analysis to determine your knowledge, skills and
abilities*
• “Soft” assessments = continuous process of
preparation to ensure you ready for the
competitive workforce

The Purpose of
“Hard” Assessments
(CASAS, WorkKeys® & Pesco)
We want to do everything we can to help you
make good choices about your future and
gain a “competitive edge” in the job market.
The assessment process helps us:
 Identify and measure your ability to learn and perform
the tasks of the job you will be referred to

Determine if additional training services are needed to
get you to the level you want to be

Ensure that we refer top quality candidates to
prospective employers by providing the employer
confidence that the candidates referred can succeed in
the occupations they have chosen

“Soft” Assessments
“Soft” assessments consist of a continuous
process of observation and preparation in the
areas of:






Dependability
Timeliness
Appearance
Attitude
Communication
Interpersonal

successful completion in all of the
previous areas you will receive a
Central California Work Readiness
Certificate.

How the Results Are Used to
Find the Best Job for You

Several different components are taken into
consideration such as:
• WorkKeys® requirements – Determining whether your
scores match or are greater than WorkKeys®
requirements for the particular job/career you are
interested in
• High-wage, high-demand occupations - Identifying
occupations in Fresno County within your field of
interest
• Career ladders - Utilizing career ladders to give you a
snapshot of wage information, requirements, work
conditions, etc. for occupations you have selected
• Training - Determining training availability for your
chosen occupation, if applicable

What if you have difficulty
meeting the CCWRC
criteria?
You can still stay on track! We can work together to:
• Develop a plan
• Review the assessments results to ensure that you understand
what areas you need to work on
• Determine training availability for your needs
• Find resources to help you improve your scores and increase
your opportunity for success

However, if you prefer not to improve your scores to meet the
requirements for your chosen occupation, we can help you look for
jobs that match your current assessed skill level

Program Guideline
Overview
 Before you are registered to receive Workforce
Connection services you will be asked to sign the
program guidelines form. Your signature acknowledges
that you have read, understand and agree to comply
with the program guidelines.
 The following guidelines are extremely important to
your success.
 We have found that if you know what is expected of you
before enrolling in this program, you are able to make
the best use of the services to successfully obtain your
career goals.
 You must play a very active role in order to realize your
success.

Workforce Connection
Program Guidelines
1. Workforce Connection is a federally funded program
under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and all
services are offered free of cost to you. WIA is not an
entitlement program and all WIA eligibility requirements
must be met. Services are provided based upon
individual need and availability of funds.
2. We offer Staff Assisted job search and Supportive
Services specific to your needs when you enroll into
WIA activities. However, we must ensure that all
community resources have been explored and
exhausted and that an eligibility determination has been
completed and approved.

3.
All services are based on individual needs and will
assist you in obtaining and/or retaining regular fulltime employment.
4.
Call ahead to schedule a meeting with your
ERS/BAS. Your ERS/BAS may not be available if
you come in without an appointment.
5.
You are required to keep your ERS/BAS informed if
there are any changes in your address, phone
number, and/or e-mail.
6.
Upon being awarded the CCWRC, your ERS/BAS
will contact you twice within the following 12 week
period. If you do not respond, you will be
immediately exited from the program and will not
be eligible for additional services.

7. You are encouraged to continue to use the Resource
Room at any of our One Stop locations for job search
assistance at any time.
8. Should you become employed, either through your own
efforts or with our assistance, you must provide
employment information to your ERS/BAS immediately.
9. Workforce Connection is mandated under WIA to followup with you for 12 months after employment begins. As
such, you or your employer will receive follow-up calls
from Workforce Connection staff.
10. All information provided at any level will be treated with
confidentiality.

11. If you are recommended vocational training you will
be required to participate in a formal scholarship
interview to determine if you will be awarded a
training scholarship.
12. Please understand that in order for us to
appropriately prepare you for employment, you
may be asked to attend a workshop at no cost to
you.

Where do you go from here?

Now you have an important decision to make.
Workforce Connection has many excellent services
for you if you are serious and ready to work!

If you are confident that you are ready to proceed you
will be scheduled for an eligibility appointment.

If you are not ready to make the kind of commitment
necessary to obtain and retain full-time employment,
we can refer you to other resources that may be
more in line with your future plans.
