BOMB TYPE 1
Gun-triggered type
The simplest way to bring the
subcritical masses together is to
make a gun that fires one mass
into the other.
BOMB TYPE 2
Implosion-triggered type
The implosion devise is made up of a
sphere of U235 and PL239. When the
bomb is detonated the fission reaction
take place and the bomb explodes.
The aim of the Manhattan Project
was to make two different types of
nuclear weapons; the uranium
enriched large fission bomb and a
more complicated plutonium bomb.
During the project to develop the
bomb, three young American lives
were lost.
